Role Description/Purpose

We are seeking a dedicated professional to champion highquality teaching and foster effective learning of English. Qualifications & Experience
Essentials

  • University degree.
  • Certificate in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (CELTA) or Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) certification.
  • A minimum of 2 years postcertificate i.e. CELTA/Trinity cert TESOL experience gained from teaching a variety of age groups and levels from young learners through to adults.

Desirables

  • Recognised diploma in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) i.e. Diploma in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (DELTA).

Important Information:

  • Language requirements:Proficiency in English equivalent to a Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) C2 level.
  • Location: Madrid. Teachers may be expected to work in more than one British Council centre. They are also likely to work in more than one location e.g. British Council centre and a partner institution.
  • Monthly gross salary: 1055 (CELTA certified) or 1127 (DELTA certified).
  • Contracted hours per week: 15.5
  • Working Hours: A typical working week consists of four weekdays and Saturday with one weekday off (e.g. Friday).Typical teaching hours are Monday to Friday: 12:0015:00 and 17:0021:50 and Saturday: 10:0013:30 and 15:0018:30.
  • Proof of Identity & Right to Work:Locally Recruited Applications are welcomed from candidates currently in this location with a natural right to are also welcomed from candidates currently based in other British Council country offices. However please note candidates must have a natural right to work in the country on a permanent basis as immigration clearance and/or ongoing visa support is not provided by the British Council for this role. Relocation support is also not provided
  • Contract type: Indefinite.
  • Please note: This position primarily involves teaching young learners. While some adult classes may be included applicants should have experience with and a genuine interest in working with children and teenagers.
