Air Products and Chemicals Inc. a Fortune 500 manufacturer of industrial gases and chemicals has openings for experienced Hydrogen Plant Operators to join its Louisiana Operations team at our Plaquemine LA site.
The positions will support our Steam Methane Reformer in Plaquemine that will supply hydrogen to the APCI Hydrogen pipeline. The hydrogen pipeline distributes to various customers along the Mississippi River corridor via a pipeline distribution system.

Required Skills / Abilities:
- Strong mechanical aptitude and/or military background.
- Team player that is flexible.
- Must be a selfstarter and willing to work alone
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Day to Day control and monitoring the processes to produce hydrogen which includes operating and controlling the following: Furnaces Compressors DCS monitoring systems Rotating Equipment Catalyst Reactors Water Treatment Systems (Boiler and Cooling Water Systems) operated manual Valves and Pressure Swing Adsorption skid
- Troubleshoot respond to operating conditions respond to customer order rates and process optimization.
- Complete operator rounds execute minor preventative maintenance and support mechanical and instrumentation maintenance and projects.
- Issue permit work in the field and monitor contract partners.
- Participate in the basic safety process as a key member of the Site Safety committee and sharing responsibility for the sites overall safety performance.
- Interact with staff personnel to maintain operation of plant; assist in plant equipment mechanical repairs instrument calibrations and electrical troubleshooting.
- Follow Operating procedures.
- Support other facilities in the area as required.
- This is a safety sensitive position.
Minimum Hiring Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED
- Degree in Process Technology is preferred.
- Five years of operations experience in the industry is preferred.
- Must be a selfstarter and willing to work alone.
- Strong mechanical aptitude required.
- Military experience is a plus.
- Must be willing to work rotating shifts and weekends and take 24 hour oncall responsibilities on a rotating basis.
- Strong oral and written communications skills.
- Team player that is flexible and has a positive attitude.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to manage confined space entry climb ladders and steps and lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Will be exposed to high noise levels.
- Be able to meet callin requirements as needed.
- Elevated work required.
Work Hours
- Able to work overtime as needed
- Able to take 24 hour on call responsibilities on a rotating basis
