Job Description

SUPERVISOR PLANNING & ENGINEERING

Reporting to the Regional Manager Eastern Ontario the Supervisor Planning & Engineering will be responsible for the effective operation of this key department which includes the management and leadership to the planning and engineering team. The candidate will be responsible for providing engineering guidance on the development and implementation of strategies and operating plans budgeting taking into account targets and related actions for improvement in incident prevention production output quality P&C design and implementation. This position is also responsible for maintaining the GIS/OMS and project management of the electrical systems throughout the Cornwall Gananoque and surrounding areas. This position will reinforce the companys core values the health and safety policies/procedures and comply with all external legislation and standards.

The incumbent will have practical knowledge of industry rules common electrical utility practices regulations (such as but not limited to the OEB CEC and EUSA) and a demonstrated competency to maintain positive customer relationships work with external consultants foster harmonious labour relations provide support as required and seek process improvement opportunities. In order to be successful in this position the candidate will require a combination of sound technical knowledge willingness to learn problem solving capabilities and the ability to develop/maintain relationships with all levels of the organization. We are seeking a candidate who meets the following qualifications:

  • Successfully completed a degree in Electrical Engineering registered in good standing and a licensed Professional Engineer () or successful completion of a postsecondary degree or diploma from an accredited educational institution in the field of Electrical Engineering Technology (certified member or eligible for membership in OACETT) and/or Business Administration or Management with related field work experience would be considered. Master of Business Administration is considered a very strong asset
  • Minimum of five (5) years of electrical utility experience preferably in a regulated utility environment and experience supervising within a unionized
  • Ability to lead in a team environment and have strong organizational interpersonal and communications skills to effectively address daytoday operations of the department internally and externally.
  • Advanced computer skills with demonstrated knowledge of MS Office

Must hold and maintain a valid Ontario G license with a clean driving abstract
