Job Description

VFA Learning Geelong is a dynamic Registered Training Organisation committed to the success and supportive care of our students.

Based at our Geelong Yarra Street Campus we are looking for a Business Development Manager to join the VFA Learning team.

A Senior RTO Managers Day can involve:

  • Leading planning managing and coordinating all aspects of VFAs sales operations and training delivery to achieve revenue profit and quality targets while ensuring compliance with AQTF RTO Standards 2025 or revised standards and other regulatory frameworks.
  • Supporting the Executive General Manager AKG Learning in developing and implementing strategic and operational plans aligned with VFAs business objectives and AKIs vision.
  • Driving applications expressions of interest tenders and other business opportunities to expand markets and secure government funding.
  • Ensuring accurate timely and transparent reporting to the Executive General Manager AKG Learning on governance financial performance business risks and compliance matters.
  • Fostering a performancebased culture by mentoring coaching and providing feedback to develop the capabilities of direct reports and wider teams.
  • Collaborating with the National Quality and Compliance Manager and National Data Manager to develop training materials projects and continuous quality improvement processes.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with customers employers industry bodies government agencies and other stakeholders to support business objectives.
  • Identifying and pursuing growth opportunities including organic expansion new product development and potential mergers or acquisitions.
  • Ensuring adherence to federal and state legislation funding requirements certifications and licensing obligations.
  • Overseeing the implementation and management of all programs and qualifications VFA deliver.
  • Driving the adoption of technology and process improvements to enhance service delivery and operational efficiency.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with industry partners regulatory bodies and corporate clients.
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for external audits government bodies and key funding agencies.
  • Engaging with employers community groups and advisory committees to ensure training meets workforce demands.
  • Representing the RTO at conferences industry forums and networking events.
  • Developing and implementing strategic initiatives to position the RTO as a leader in the sector VFA operates
  • Maintaining a safe work environment ensuring compliance with WHS requirements across all VFA sites.

Skills and Knowledge

  • Exceptional leadership and team management skills with a proven ability to engage motivate and develop highperforming teams including remote staff.
  • Advanced strategic and operational planning skills to deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Strong business and commercial acumen with a deep understanding of the education and employment services industry.
  • Expert knowledge of AQTF RTO Standards 2025 Vet Quality Framework (VQF) Victorian Skills and Vocational Skills Loans (VSL).
  • Welldeveloped interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication conflict resolution negotiation and stakeholder relationship management.
  • Advanced critical thinking and problemsolving skills with a solutionsfocused approach.
  • Effective planning time management and organizational skills with the ability to take initiative and escalate issues when necessary.
  • High attention to detail and accurate administration skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and RTO reporting systems.
  • Ability to adapt to change cope with pressure and maintain professionalism under challenging conditions.
  • Experience in building networks influencing stakeholders and securing business opportunities.
  • Commitment to supporting diversity and fostering a positive work environment.

Qualifications/Education

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Business Education or a related field or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Minimum of 7 years experience in RTO management.

To be considered you must

  • Have full working rights in Australia
  • Have a current drivers licence and a comprehensively insured vehicle
  • Complete an Australia History Criminal Check
  • Have a current Working with Children Check or willing to obtain a Working with Children Check before employment
  • Ability to work Monday to Friday 8:30am to 5:00pm
