    Hours: 7:00 a.m. 3:00 p.m. M T Th F; 9:00a.m. 3:00 p.m. W
    Location: Middle School

    Qualifications:

    Required:
    1. High School Diploma or GED
    2. At least one year of successful work experience in building security or a related field.
    3. Demonstrated working knowledge of adolescent behavior.
    4. Competency working in a culturally diverse environment or the willingness to acquire these skills.
    5. Good interpersonal relationship skills.
    6. Ability to take charge in emergency situations.
    7. Ability to make decisions within guidelines provided.

    Reports to: Building Administrator

    Job Goal:
    To provide assistance to students traveling throughout the building and alert teachers/administration of any concerns.

    Performance Responsibilities:
    1. Provides supervision of parking lots cross walks and bus lanes during high traffic times.
    2. Monitors hallways stairwells locker banks and all other areas of the building.
    3. Conducts security checks throughout and around the perimeter of the building.
    4. Works as a team member with teachers and administration.
    5. Interacts effectively and appropriately with students teachers and parents.
    6. Provides assistance with emergencies or problem times.
    7. Provides corrective feedback to students.
    8. Documents negatives and positives in detail.
    9. Alerts the teachers to special needs of students.
    10. Provides an appropriate role model for students.
    11. Maintains confidentiality on sensitive information.
    12. Other duties as assigned.

    Physical Demands:
    1. Must be capable of walking continuously throughout the work day.
    2. Must be able to work outside throughout the entire school day and be able to adjust to all weather conditions.
    3. Must be capable of standing throughout the work day.
    4. Must present appropriate appearance and personal cleanliness suited to working in close proximity to students and adults.
    5. Must be able to work with interruptions during a work shift.
    6. Must be capable of working with students with different personalities capabilities and physical and mental limitations.
    7. Must be capable of working in a noisy environment.

    Note: The physical demands described above represent real life tasks an employee may need to perform as part of the essential functions of this job. While the frequency may be low the above stated physical demands may be required during the course of a daily work shift. Tasks that have physical demands that exceed the above stated limits should only be performed with sufficient manpower or material handling equipment.

    Evaluation: Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of Southeast Polk Board Policy.

    Terms of Employment:
    1. 10Month Employment 8 hours/day
    2. The hourly schedule may be adjusted (to include evenings/weekends) at supervisors discretion based on building needs.
