The Role
As a MathTeacher you will serve as the primary learning resource for our Graduation Candidates (GCs) helping them master academic content and stay on track to graduate. Youll guide students through a competencybased blended curriculum while providing individualized instruction and support. Through a combination of facilitation mentorship and academic coaching you will empower students to achieve academic milestones and postsecondary success.
Key Responsibilities
Enrollment
- Support new student enrollment by engaging in recruitment and outreach efforts.
- Assist in creating Personalized Learning Plans tailored to each students unique needs and goals.
Retention
- Serve as an advisor for assigned students maintaining regular communication and collaboration with support teams.
- Monitor students attendance academic progress and overall wellbeing to ensure consistent engagement and success.
Academics
- Plan and deliver highquality instruction in Mathematics both in 1:1 and group settings aligned to a competencybased model.
- Conduct formative and summative assessments to evaluate students academic progress and adjust instruction as needed.
- Analyze and utilize data to inform instructional strategies and drive student outcomes.
- Demonstrate knowledge of IEPs Exceptional Student Education (ESE) and English Language Learner (ELL) accommodations. Support and document progress toward student goals and participate in required meetings.
- Provide targeted remediation and enrichment opportunities to meet the diverse needs of learners.
- Contribute to the success of academy initiatives including data reviews professional development workshops and school/community events.
Advocacy
- Collaborate with student support teams to develop academic behavioral and transition plansincorporating incentives that improve student achievement.
- Participate actively in academywide meetings and represent the academy at community events to advocate for student success.
- Perform additional responsibilities as needed in support of the academys mission.
What Were Looking For
- Education: Bachelors degree required Masters Degree preferred
- Certification: Florida Educators License with a 612 Mathematics endorsement required
- Experience: 2 years of relevant teaching experience (preferably high school)
- Skills: Strong communication organization time management and collaboration skills
- Passion: A genuine commitment to supporting youth who have disengaged from traditional schooling and helping them succeed
Preferred Qualifications
- Bilingual (Spanish preferred)
- Experience working in nontraditional or alternative education environments
- Understanding of ESE ELL and behavior intervention strategies
- Familiarity with competencybased education projectbased learning instructional coaching and technology integration
