This position will travel to different locations on a weekly basis. Potential locations include Annapolis Prince Frederick Glen Burnie Westminster and Havre De Grace. Must be able to start as early as 7am. Mileage reimbursement included.

Pay range: $1623/hr depending upon experience.

Responsibilities

Job Summary: As a Surgery Tech/MA you will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive patient care and support within a clinical surgical setting. Your responsibilities will encompass various tasks including escorting patients collecting vital information preparing procedure rooms assisting during surgical procedures and ensuring adherence to company policies and HIPAA regulations.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Escort patients to the exam/procedure room. Assist patients as needed with walking. Collect patient information/history; take vitals and perform screenings per provider guidelines.
  • Prepare paperwork for the patients current visit and ensure complete and accurate documentation within the patients electronic medical record.
  • Complete preoperative intake via a oneonone interview with the patient explain surgical procedures and answer any questions within your scope.
  • Prepare procedure rooms and surgical trays with all supplies needed for procedures.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures in adherence to HIPAA regulations.
  • Drape and disinfect the surgical site administer an injection of local anesthesia and use a handheld cautery device to achieve hemostasis.
  • Assist the physician during all procedures (passing instruments blotting cutting sutures etc).
  • Bandage surgical sites prepare proper discharge paperwork review wound care instructions with patients and answer any questions or concerns they may have.
  • Clean and prepare instruments for terminal sterilization in an autoclave.
  • Collect and accurately process specimens.
  • Prepare pathology and lab specimens. Route to correct lab as required by patients insurance. Maintain accurate pathology log.
  • Remove sutures.
  • Notify patients of pathology and lab results.
  • Respond to patient questions in the office and on the phone as instructed.
  • Schedule or reschedule appointments with providers specialists as necessary. Send appropriate records as necessary.
  • Maintain medication samples discard outofdate supplies and keep appropriate records.
  • Maintain infection control. Maintain cleanliness of exam rooms and keep supply cabinets well stocked.
  • Document all medical instructions given to patients.
  • Travel required to the following offices:
    • Annapolis MD
    • Glen Burnie MD
    • Prince Frederick MD
    • Berlin MD (no more than 1x per month)
    • Westminster MD
    • Havre de Grace MD

Other duties assigned as deemed necessary by management.

Qualifications

  • A college graduate or other individual interested in exploring opportunities in an inoffice surgical setting
  • Have a passion for taking care of people
  • Ability to be a team player in a fastpaced environment
  • Must have reliable transportation and a willingness to travel to various surgical centers in Maryland
  • Will train motivated and hardworking candidates. No experience is necessary although it will be viewed favorably.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift at least 15 pounds stand for prolonged periods (i.e. an hour at a time) and use a step stool
