Job Description

The Development Director will support the Executive Director with all aspects of fundraising including annual appeals donor research donor development cultivation retention database maintenance and sponsor procurement. This role also involves overseeing grant writing organizing events and managing donor appreciation efforts from initiation to final reporting.
The ideal candidate is a creative selfmotivated visionary leader with proven experience in meeting budget projections and building successful fundraising marketing and missiondriven campaigns. Trustworthiness sincerity and integrity are essential character traits for this position. The selfmotivated candidate will become a key member and leader of our small but talented missiondriven Marketing and Development Department.

SPCA Florida is a 46yearold nokill grassroots organization with outreach throughout Polk County. We maintain a fullservice Medical Center for the public and an extensive hospital for shelter animals. We believe in and promote community outreach and the Florida State Animal Resource Coalition (FL SARC) provides disaster response for the state of Florida.
Duties and Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  1. Collaborates with theExecutive Director and the Marketing and Philanthropic department on fundraising goals and targets for proposals appeals campaigns and events. Supports this effort with grant research writing and management.
  2. Identifies develops and implements strategies for the cultivation and stewardship of new existing and past donors and corporate sponsors.
  3. Works with the Executive Director Medical Center Adoption Center and FL SARC leadership to develop and implement traditional and digital marketing plans providing maximum exposure for SPCA Floridas marketing and philanthropic efforts.
  4. Collaborates and supports marketing and graphic design on all aspects of creative design for multiple projects and platforms including newsletters reports brochures signage branding websites eblasts ads web banners displays presentations videos infographics and more.
  5. Develops rapport with vendors/donors/sponsors through oneonone interactions exploring specific needs andanticipating new opportunities.
  6. Provides logistical guidance and support for events and programs.
  7. Collaborates with key staff to conduct tours for mid and highlevel donors.
  8. Maintains the integrity of donor management tracking and system maintenance and reporting.
  9. Sustains philanthropic efforts via donor reporting and stewardship initiatives.
  10. Ensures the timely and accurate posting of donations and acknowledgments.
  11. Responsible for accomplishing business development activities to drive revenue and consumer appeal by researching and developing marketing opportunities and plans implementing missiondriven sales plans and managing and/or collaborating with staff.
Minimum Job Requirements:
  • ABS/MS degree in Business Administration Communications or a related field is required; amasters degree in a related field is a plus.
  • Minimum of 4 years ofrecent experience in fundraising communications and/or public relations with demonstrated success preferably in the nonprofit sector.
