The Department of Psychology and Sociology at Texas A&M UniversityCorpus Christi invites applications for a 9month Visiting Assistant Professor position in Sociology for theacademic year. We seek applicants with a Doctoral Degree in Sociology who are successful teaching scholars as evidenced by a strong record of teaching excellence and research productivity. All areas of research and teaching specialization within Sociology will be considered.
The Department of Psychology and Sociology offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in sociology as well as a minor. As such faculty teach a range of lower and upperdivision courses in sociology at the undergraduate level. The program values studentfaculty interactions beyond the classroom including research collaboration and program events (e.g. film screenings guest speakers etc.). The teaching load for this position will be four courses per semester. The successful candidate will be expected to teach Introduction to Sociology Social Research Methods Sociology of Gender and other courses related to their area of expertise. In addition the successful candidate will be expected to engage in departmental service where appropriate and encouraged to engage in research activity.
