Project Manager Electric Utilities

Leidos Engineering has an opportunity for a Project Manager who will work alongside lead engineers and account managers supporting various electric utility clients. The Project Manager will be part of an established Project Management Office within our Power Delivery Solutions division that provides consulting services to publicowned and investorowned electric utilities for comprehensive engineering design of electrical transmission substation and distribution projects nationwide.

This role is based out of either our Chicago IL or Walled Lake MI office so candidates must be able to work out of one of these locations on a hybrid schedule (3 days/week in office) in order to be considered.

As a Project Manager you can expect to:

• Assist project teams in completing engineering design of various sized electric infrastructure projects for publicowned and investorowned electric utility customers
• Be responsible for overall project performance and reporting
• Manage project costs schedule and scope including the development of recovery plans to stay within approved limits
• Ensure contract compliance
• Drive work products by coordinating and working with Engineering Leads and Managers to track and execute client deliverables
• Ensure and document adherence to the quality control process
• Interface directly with the client and internal management to solve issues and report progress costs schedule adherence and risks across a program of projects
• Communicate with clients internal project teams multiple engineering disciplines functional leaders subcontractors and support personnel
• Assist with the preparation of bid documents development of cost estimates and responses to Requests For Proposal
• Complete monthly client invoicing accruals and accounts receivable within prescribed time frames
• Assist your team in identifying potential business development opportunities

What Youll Bring to the Table (Required Qualifications):

• Bachelors degree in Engineering Construction Management Business Finance or a closely related discipline is required
• A minimum of 4 years of relevant Project Management experience
• Demonstrated Experience with project management software (e.g. Workfront MS Project P6)
• Experience with MS Office Software (Word PowerPoint Excel); Ability to demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Excel (Pivot Tables VLookup etc) required
• Demonstrated experience managing project financials proposals scopes and schedules
• Previous Experience working with various contract types including Fixed Price and Time & Material
• Must have the capability to plan organize direct and track technical efforts on project tasks
• Must have the capability to understand plan monitor and report project financial performance
• Strong written and verbal communication skills

You Might Also Have (Preferred Qualifications):

• PMP Certification is preferred but not required; Ideal Candidates will have a desire to obtain PMP Certification within two years
• Excellent organizational skills problem solving/analytical skills and the ability to multitask effectively
• Operational experience in Microsoft PowerBI
• Previous exposure to projects for major US electric utilities
• Demonstrated success with a team approach to the consulting business
• Advanced use/expertise in Excel preferred
