At Loqate our mission is to help every business in the world reach every customer in the world and we strive to understand location better than the people that live there. Thousands of big brands and household names use our location capture and verification services as part of their digital commerce and data quality user journeys performing millions of transactions per day.
Lead Engineer
Loqate is on a mission to build the best engineering team. We are looking for engineers who are excited to be part of our story and help us build a diverse and vibrant tech community. We hire engineers with a broad set of technical skills who are highly crossfunctional and eager to solve a wide range of engineering challenges.
We have an ambitious target to grow our customer base from 20000 to over 100000. You will help achieve this by leading the technical direction of our SaaS platform having the ownership to decide where you and your team can best deliver value. There are a wide range of opportunities to flex your technical skills from modularising some of our monolithic architecture spearheading greenfield projects or employing growth engineering strategies. There is no line management responsibility with this role you will work closely with Engineering Managers Product Managers and other Technical Leads to drive technical excellence within our teams and deliver value for our customers.
What you will do
- Take ownership of the technical design delivery and documentation of our SaaS platform as we scale to support over 100000 role has a mix of both handson development as well as lead/architecture work.
- Raise the bar for technical standards performance reliability and operational excellence
- Mentor and coach othersto help them be the best they can be
- Care about agility as much you care for scalability and availability. Continuous deployment keeps us focused on incremental releases
- Take responsibility for platform health and observability using our own data to understand user behaviour and drive product development
Skills were looking for
Core Skills
- A strong foundation in software engineering principles and deep knowledge of a highlevel programming language. C# and Go are used heavily across our products
- Experience working with distributed cloud systems using containers and infrastructure as code. We run on Kubernetes in GCP
- Strong knowledge of database technologies (e.g. SQL Server MongoDB)
- Previous experience of being the primary technical leader in a team and collaborating with other teams and stakeholders
- A passion for promoting engineering excellence in those around you through coaching and guidance
- An understanding of different architectural and design patterns and an appreciation of when to use them
- Experience shipping fast reliable realtime applications using modern development tools and practices
Nice to haves:
- Understanding of GitOps and experience with tools such as Argo CD
- Previous experience in integrating new services and tools such as Salesforce Segment HubSpot Stripe is beneficial
- Experience with SQL and data warehousing/pipelining tools such as BigQuery Airflow etc.
- Proven experience in navigating and transforminglegacy codebases as well as leading greenfield projects
- A polyglot who can identify and use the right tool for the job
