PURPOSE
The Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying and Science at Texas A&M UniversityCorpus Christi is seeking a highly qualified Research Scientist specializing in geospatial sciences to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing research projects using geospatial technology to address a range of scientific challenges and developing Enterprise GIS to efficiently host our organizations geospatial data. This position offers the opportunity to work with a dynamic team of scientists and researchers in a collaborative environment. This position is contingent on external funding.

The Conrad Blucher Institute for Surveying and Science (CBI) at TAMUCC is a collaborative research environment utilizing geospatial science to support data driven decision making. The institutes research laboratories develop innovative solutions informed by precise measurements honoring the legacy of the Blucher family and their commitment to surveying and science. CBI pushes the boundaries of geospatial science by applying cutting edge technologies to map measure collect and manage big data used to predict our physical environment.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Design and Conduct Geospatial Research: 50%
Design and conduct geospatial research projects and methodologies.
Plan data acquisition strategies.
Contribute to the preparation of research proposals reports and scientific publications.
Stay current with the latest developments in geospatial technology and research.
Contribute to the development of new methodologies and technologies to enhance the capabilities and applications of geospatial technologies.
Manage project timelines budgets and resources to ensure the successful completion of research objectives.
Supervise and mentor junior researchers students or technical staff involved in the project.
Geospatial Systems Engineering: 30%
Maintain the institutes enterprise GIS and ensure compliance with standards and procedures.
Advise and train colleagues on the use and implementation of enterprise GIS.
Author and implement policies and procedures for enterprise GIS for the institute and sponsored projects as required.
Develop data ping workflows using specialized software.
Outreach and Education: 10%
Develop educational modules for use in university and continuing education courses.
Plan and operate community engagement and recruiting events.
Position requires occasional travel to offsite locations for the performance of job duties which may include work outside of normal business hours. Field activities often occur in extreme weather conditions (hot or cold) and may require duties to be performed from a vessel.
Operates university vehicles/machinery or rental vehicles/machinery.
Communication and Collaboration: 10%
Effectively communicates with colleagues to understand project requirements timelines and expectations.
Provides regular updates on project progress and seeks feedback to improve deliverables.
Maintains open and clear communication channels ensuring prompt responses to inquiries and requests.
Develops an understanding of the work conducted by the institute.
Utilizes resources asks questions and troubleshoots to complete job duties.

QUALIFICATIONS
Doctoral degree in computer science or related field.
Six (6) years of related work experience.
Maintains a valid Drivers License.
Advanced experience with ArcGIS Enterprise (Server and Portal) and Online Platforms.
Effectively communicate complex GIS concepts and analytical results both orally and in writing to stakeholders and team members.
Experience with surveyrelated software such as AutoCAD Civil 3D Pix4D.
Experience performing ETL workflows from CAD to GIS etc.
Create manipulate and maintain spatial data from various sources using ArcGIS Pro ArcGIS Online ArcGIS Enterprise and other relevant geospatial software tools.
Ability to work independently prioritize tasks and deliver results in a timely manner.
Assess and prioritize multiple tasks and projects in a fastpaced office environment meeting deadlines and project requirements.
Experienced in workflow design and technical documentation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Relevant experience in programming languages such as Python SQL MATLAB or R.
Familiarity with geodetic data processing and geospatial analysis tools.
FAA Part 107 certified UAV Pilot with experience using UAVs for surveying applications.
Experience working with land surveyors and engineers on projects of various sizes.
Experience working with local and regional governmental and NGOs.
Experience providing collegelevel instruction or higher in scientific or related fields.
Experience planning and operating community engagement and outreach events.
SALARY: Up to $7500.00 Monthly ($90000.00 Annual Approximately)
