We are seeking a talented and creative Communications Officer to join our team for approximately 14 months. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Communications this role is responsible for supporting and enhancing the Boards overall communication strategies with a specific focus on social media content creation and videography. As one of four Communications Officer portfolios this position is ideal for someone who thrives in a fastpaced environment and enjoys telling compelling stories through engaging visuals. The successful candidate will develop and manage content across various social media platforms film and edit video projects and contribute to key initiatives such as the Directors Annual Report. They will also help ensure consistent and effective communication across the organization. This is an exciting opportunity for someone with exceptional videography skills a passion for digital storytelling and a strong understanding of how to connect with audiences through social media.


Responsibilities will include but not limited to:

  • Plan film and edit highquality video and photo content for social media websites and other communication channels

  • Collaborate with staff students and stakeholders to capture compelling stories and events

  • Maintain and organize video/photography equipment and digital assets

  • Research storyboard script edit render and post video content that aligns with OCSBs mission and vision

  • Ensure all video content is accessible and meets OCSB standards

  • Develop implement and manage social media strategies to enhance the Boards online presence

  • Design curate and schedule engaging content for all OCSB social media platforms

  • Monitor social media channels for trends feedback and engagement opportunities

  • Analyze social media metrics and adjust strategies to improve performance and reach

  • Support comprehensive communications campaigns and strategies

  • Draft edit and distribute content for newsletters press releases and internal communications

  • Assist in organizing and promoting events and public relations activities

  • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders

  • Respond promptly to urgent communication needs and assist in crisis communications

  • Participate as a member of OCSB committees as requested

  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the supervisor


Skills & Qualifications:

  • Degree or diploma in Media Arts Digital Media Arts Multimedia Arts Film/Television or Communications or similar

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in video production graphic design and brand expression

  • Proven video production (filming editing postproduction) and photography (professional cameras lenses editing) skills

  • Proficiency in social media platforms and analytics tools

  • Knowledge of digital marketing strategies and SEO best practices

  • Familiarity with Ontario accessibility standards for video and text

  • Excellent storytelling skills and a keen eye for detail

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messages for various audiences and platforms

  • Excellent analytical and problemsolving skills and an aptitude for learning new technology

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively

  • Creative critical thinker with a knack for generating innovative ideas and solutions

  • Strong organizational skills capable of managing multiple projects and deadlines

  • Experience with graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite) and working knowledge of the Google Suite of applications

  • Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed

  • Valid drivers license and consistent access to a reliable vehicle (travel between OCSB schools will be required)

  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may also be considered


This is a fulltime (1.0 FTE) term position with an annual salary range of $92779 $100637 plus 4% in lieu of vacation. Salary will be prorated as applicable based on the duration of the assignment.


The anticipated start date for this position is June 23 2025 with an anticipated end date of August 31 2026.
