Onsite: This role is categorized as onsite. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to Factory Zero on a fulltime basis.

The Role:

As Controls Engineer you will be responsible for smooth functioning of all manufacturing equipment and manufacturing support systems in the plant. This work requires the ability to troubleshoot maintain and repair activities of plant equipment; responsible to manage and execute plant launches and projects; the ability to make decisions based on established tools applications and procedures; and is of a technical nature using independent judgment within the limits of General Motors Global Manufacturing System focusing on Safety People Quality Responsiveness Cost and Environment (SPQRCE). Flexible to support cross functional departments and shift schedules.

What Youll Do:

  • In this role your responsibilities will be of a technical nature with decisions made within the limits of general practices policies and standards. Your work will involve complex manufacturing problems including the need to root cause and follow issues to resolve.
  • Work autonomously with occasional guidance from the Lead Controls Engineer and supervision. Skilled in PLC HMI Robot Weld Torque and Test control systems; Manufacturing Systems like Production Monitoring Routing & Tracking and Error Proofing Equipment tooling facilities and alternatives.
  • Support manufacturing departments as per production shift schedules and weekends.
  • Knowledgeable in sequence and flow of operations for the effective utilization of personnel material machines and facilities necessary for supporting production.
  • Work is performed in an assembly plant manufacturing engineering activity where creativity and initiative are exercised as well as independent judgment.
  • Responsible for equipment related to the manufacturing process.
  • Support Continuous Improvement activities.

Additional Job Description

Your Skills and Abilities (Required Qualifications):

  • Bachelors degree or equivalent experience (Electrical Engineering degree preferred)
  • 2 years of experience in PLC Programming
  • 2 years of experience in Manufacturing systems
  • 1 years of experience working in a paint shop
  • Proficient knowledge in Rockwell PLCs Siemens HMIs Fanuc Robots AGVs
  • Working knowledge of process equipment operations sequence error proofing and diagnostics capabilities.
  • Must be able to work a rotating shift as needed
  • Must be able to work over time and weekends as needed

What Will Give You a Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications):

  • Knowledge of Ethernet networks (IECN).
  • Knowledge of vision systems and bar code scanners (Matrox Cognex Keyence SICK Honeywell).
  • Experience with Diagnosis process equipment failures.
  • Knowledge of drives / motion control.
  • Knowledge of Auto Cad and or Electrical drawings.
  • Knowledge of automated welding and adhesive/sealing dispense.
  • Knowledge in computing languages like VB C .Net
