Founded in 1962 Fort Worth Country Day is an independent coeducational nondenominational collegepreparatory day school located in Southwest Fort Worth. The School was built upon the mission to foster the intellectual physical emotional and ethical development of capable students through an academically rigorous collegepreparatory program that integrates the arts and athletics. Position Description
Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) the Fort Worth Country Day (FWCD) Director of Human Resources provides guidance and expertise for the effective administration of all human resource activities including talent management workforce planning employment law compliance employee retention and benefits administration.
The HR Director is a fulltime yearround exempt employee.
Responsibilities and Duties
- Develop and maintain working partnerships with members of the FWCD community to effectively develop and administer human resource policies and procedures
- Develop working partnerships outside of FWCD to promote FWCD as an employer and to secure expertise as needed in support of the Schools routine and strategic needs
- In partnership with school leadership establish and maintain effective human resource policies and procedures including those in the employee handbooks to ensure compliance with School policy legal requirements and current best practices
- In conjunction with the CFO engage legal counsel and affiliates as needed in order to serve as an advisor to the School on employment law and best practices
- Oversight for all monthly and biweekly payrolls ensuring accuracy of 941/TWC reports and payrolls with adherence to the general ledger
- Manage the Schools benefit programs by assisting in the negotiation of benefits and contracts hosting open enrollment annually providing oversight of all benefits invoicing and making recommendations to school leadership regarding benefit changes
- Oversee the onboarding process from the creation of job descriptions applicant tracking salary offer recommendations through to generating salary and compensation agreements
- Engage directly with the Head of School and CFO to establish salaries and compensation for faculty and staff including compensation agreements and merit increases
- Establish and maintain the salaryrelated benefits budget and support efforts to create and manage the salary budget
- Support the termination process by coordinating multidepartmental efforts and providing managers with expertise and support during conversations with employees
- Provide support in confidential and sometimes sensitive conversations regarding employment/personnel issues feedback exit interviews etc.
- Collaborate with school leadership to design appropriate performance management protocols and support supervisors as needed to ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations
- Maintain current benchmark data on all positions and track and store all employment data in compliance with record retention best practices
- Legal compliance and reporting including the preparation of W2s 1095Cs 5500 filing annual EEO1 reports and compliance with ADA COBRA DOL ERISA FMLA HIPAA OSHA and all other human resourcerelated laws and regulations; including preparation of the annual 403b retirement plan audit
- Effectively communicate all Human Resources policies and procedures
- Update the Employee Handbook each year in coordination with the Head of School and members of the Schools Senior Leadership Team
- Function as an effective member of the Schools Retirement Plan Committee
- Miscellaneous duties such as creating the annual staff calendar updating the FWCD LinkedIn page and maintaining the MyFWCD Human Resources portal
- Be someone that employees can feel comfortable with when voicing their concerns and issues; confidentiality is a must
- Supervise the entire scope of work performed by the Human Resources Assistant
- Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

The Director of Human Resources
- Understands the speech of another person and speaks clearly so listeners can understand
- Sits for long periods of time including working for extended periods of time in front of a screen
- Uses hands and fingers especially in the use of a mouse and keyboard for long periods of time
Qualifications
- 5 years of progressive experience in an increasingly responsible Human Resources role with benefits experience
- HR Certification is required (PHR or SHRMCP)
- Bachelors degree in Human Resources or Business Administration
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel
- Working knowledge of the Google Suite of products is preferred
- Experience with Paycom is also preferred
