Gilgunya Residential Aged Care Coburg VIC

Part Time Basis

Wintringham is a specialised nonreligious notforprofit welfare organisation. We are committed to providing older people who are at risk or have experienced homelessness with a range of highquality care housing and services. We employ more than 1000 staff across Victoria and Tasmania

Wintringham provides care and support services through residential facilities which assist an older person to retain their chosen lifestyles habits and activities and to be as independent as they choose to be.

Your new role

Wintringham is seeking a Recreation Officer to take on multiple shifts at our Gilgunya Residential Aged Care for 10 hours each fortnight. In this role you will assist the Recreation Coordinator to continually develop and facilitate individual recreational pursuits designed to meet the leisure needs of each client. Your roster will be as below:

Week 1: Sunday ()

Week 2: Sunday ()

Your responsibilities and duties will include:

  • Assist with facilitating onsite recreation activities either with groups of residents or 1:1 as directed by the Coordinator
  • Assist with facilitating offsite recreation activities including driving the bus either groups of residents or 1:1 as directed by the Coordinator
  • Ensuring clients individual recreation interests are established and facilitated.
  • Encouraging clients to maintain their community associations and contacts.
  • Assisting in the maintenance of accurate and relevant documentation is up to date and meets ACFI requirements.
  • Duties as directed by the Recreation Coordinator.

We are looking for candidates with the following:

  • Current drivers licence (mandatory)
  • Recreation Leisure and Lifestyle or equivalent qualifications(soontobe or recent graduates are encouraged to apply)
  • Ability and desire to work with clients with challenging and complex needs
  • Interest in social justice issues
  • Prior experience in Homelessness Aged CareWelfare Disability Allied HealthorCommunity Care
  • Current First Aid Certificate 2 or willing to obtain to obtain
