About Us: Oakfield Short Stay Primary is a dynamic Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) 30place pupil referral unit. We are dedicated to ensuring every child achieves success and realises their potential. Our school operates across two bases providing a supportive and engaging environment for pupils who join us following a permanent exclusion or dual registration.
About the Role
Role Overview: As a Class/Inclusion Teacher you will be at the heart of our mission teaching a small group of learners and delivering a creative curriculum that captivates and inspires. You will also provide outreach support across the county working directly with settings to observe pupils and offer recommendations to maintain placements in mainstream schools as an LA officer. Having experience of working with children who present with SEMH needs is preferable. The role would suit a teacher with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who can lead a team and inspire others. Many of our children present with challenging behaviour and we are looking for someone who can demonstrate strong empathy and ability to intrinsically connect with pupils with complex SEMH needs.
The post will be based at either our Northern or Southern school dependant on our current cohort of children and need.
Key Responsibilities:
Teach and Inspire: Plan prepare and deliver engaging lessons to a small group of learners fostering a love for learning.
Support Reintegration: Assist in reintegrating pupils back into mainstream schools ensuring they receive the support they need and equipping them with the skills they need to be successful.
Outreach and Support: Provide outreach support observing pupils in various settings and offering tailored recommendations and advice to support inclusion in our mainstream primary schools.
Lead and Mentor: Chair and participate in Primary Inclusion Forums guiding and mentoring mainstream teachers and support staff as part of schools graduated response.
Collaborate with Agencies: Work closely with educational psychologists SEN coordinators and other external agencies to support pupil progress.
Manage Resources: Secure and allocate resources effectively to enhance teaching and learning and manage a small team of support staff.
Promote Inclusion: Demonstrate a commitment to inclusion ensuring all pupils feel valued and supported.
