Job Description

Position Description Summary

APT Research is seeking a Program Manager to join our team in support of the AMCOM Safety contract (if awarded) in Huntsville AL. This role requires someone to be able to supervise employees while also recruiting and retaining technical professionals in support of the AMCOM Safety Office mission. This person will also assess the technical capabilities of potential candidates in areas relating to explosive safety system safety engineering software safety and etc.

Program Management Responsibilities

  • Define and implement plans to reach revenues profit etc.
  • Grow business area both on contract and new contracts.
  • Be a visible and wellconnected ambassador to current and prospective customers.
  • Demonstrated ability to grow/sustain/leverage large number of professional contacts and vast network.
  • Willingness/ability to attend professional business functions as official APT representative.
  • Hire personnel to support division operations and request resources (equipment) when needed.
  • Resolve issues associated with contracts and personnel.
  • Report and/or brief contract status to senior management on a weekly monthly and quarterly basis.
  • Flow issues up to senior management as appropriate.
  • Be an ambassador of corporate level mission vision and culture.
  • Be an engaged and contributing member of the corporate leadership team.

Employee Management Responsibilities

  • Communicate with employees; keep open communication lines with employees senior management and other division managers.
  • Sustain and grow employee culture and morale with creativity and care.
  • Prepare inputs for monthly APT allhands meeting and monthly newsletter.
  • Recognize employees: Generate APT monthly and annual award nominations.
  • Lead/manage employees performance goal setting process and monitor goals throughout the year.
  • Perform midyear and yearend employee assessments recommend yearend employee raises and performance incentives.
  • Train and develop new and existing personnel.

Contract Management Responsibilities

  • Deliver monthly financial reports monthly activity report contract DRDs accurately and ontime.
  • Collaborate/negotiate with customers; manage employees on the contract; respond to ROM requests.
  • Review/negotiate contract documents including contract modifications statement of work(s) etc.
  • Manage contracts and subcontractors (oversee work initiate subcontract mods (when needed) review/approve subcontractor invoices).
  • Budget and track employee hours to meet contract expectations.
  • Initiate at risk decisions when required.
  • Ensure integrity customer satisfaction and customer relationships.
  • Prepare cost estimates and proposals when required.

DecisionMaking Authority

  • Personnel hires employee performance management and employee termination.
  • Day to day contract decisions.
  • Monitor and control contract costs.
  • Financial authority up to thresholds outlined in corporate policies.

Required Experience/Education:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or a related field
  • 10 years of program manager experience with at least 10 years of experience in supporting government (i.e. AMCOM MDA SMDC etc.) and/or commercial customers (i.e. Raytheon Northrup Grumman Boeing etc.)
  • 10 years of experience in Safety Quality Mission Assurance (i.e. system safety reliability and maintainability quality software assurance risk management etc.)
  • Effective and professional communicator.

Security Clearance Requirement:

  • Must have a Secret level clearance

Preferred Experience:

  • Familiar with AMCOM 38517 MILSTD882E DO178 and other related requirements.
  • Safety Boards Experience (e.g. Army Fuze Safety Review Board Ignition System Safety Review Board and Joint Weapon Safety Review Board).
  • Materiel Release experience.
  • PMP certification.
  • Ability to utilize Excel and other Microsoft Office 365 products.
  • Good organizational skills and ability to work with minimal direction.

Travel Requirements:

  • Requires ability to travel domestically (within the U.S.) <10%
  • Physical Requirements:
  • Requires sitting for extended periods of time at a workstation / desk
  • Ability to lift >15 lbs.

Other Essential Functions:

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision make rational decisions and to exercise good judgement
  • Work attire must be appropriate for the position and must not impose a safety risk / hazard to the employee or others
