Fulltime 40 hours 8hour shifts between 6:30 and 5:00pm.
Summary:
The Simulation Specialist facilitates and promotes the safe appropriate effective and efficient use of healthcare simulation methodology and technologies; in support of education training and professional development for clinical and ancillary staff students and trainees. Reports to the Director of Simulation and collaborates with clinical educators including physicians and nurses in the development of simulation scenarios and programs. Accountable for maintaining an educationally productive environment that is physically and psychologically safe for learners. Provide expertise in available technology and resources for healthcare simulation; prepare operate and maintain equipment; and contribute to program evaluation and quality improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
1. Provides technical and educational support to faculty and learners to facilitate appropriate use of simulation resources.
2. Collaborates with clinical faculty and instructors in the development implementation and evaluation of simulation scenarios/curricula to meet specific program objectives.
3. Operates maintains troubleshoots and repairs simulation related equipment; including task trainers highfidelity manikins A/V equipment etc.
4. Maintains appropriate level of inventory for needed supplies; and procures supplies and equipment as needed.
5. Participates in programmatic needs assessment as well as the selection and purchase of equipment to meet emerging/changing needs of the Network.
6. Liaisons with vendors to understand all aspects of equipment troubleshoot problems and coordinate repairs.
7. Physically prepares the environment prior to each event ensuring availability and functionality of necessary equipment and supplies; and subsequently breaks down and cleans following each event.
8. Oversees simulation program/event logisticsto maximize access and impact and minimize any waste.
9. Documents new programs curricula and/or scenarios so that efforts can be repeated reliably.
10. Tracks records and compiles utilization statistics and program evaluations.
11. Maintains a safe and organized simulation facility.
12. Applies creativity and innovation to improve and broaden the application of simulation to meet new and existing challenges and improve the simulation services offered by Nuvance Health.
13. Oversees daily activities of the Simulation Technician and provides input into their annual review.
14. Creates educational and operational documents and multimedia products to support curricula.
15. Contributes to body of simulation scholarship in regional and national forums sharing innovations insights and observations as appropriate with the broader simulation community to advance the science and art of healthcare simulation.
16. Remains current in existing and emerging simulation best practices technologies and methods.
17. Performs other duties as assigned

Simulation Specialists are assigned to a location for which they are primarily responsible but function as part of a team supporting simulation across Nuvance Health and will therefore travel between sites regularly as demands and work volume fluctuates. Simulation Program Specialists must be a strong communicator and excellent team player. However they must also be selfmotivated and comfortable working independently and with minimal supervision.
