Primary Purpose
The Event Security Officer will support the University while on foot patrol or in a University cart.
Essential Functions
Responsible for performing security checks and crime prevention activities controls and monitors traffic and people flow on the Pacific campus during various events and as assigned. Provides information and direction to event guests and visitors to campus. Advises police officers when a crime or University rules and regulations have been violated. Conduct perimeter checks to check on lighting open doors and windows and other possible hazards. Prepares reports as assigned and as necessary. Assists in performance of a variety of community relations and crime prevention activities. Participates in public relations programs to promote better policecommunity relations and crime prevention. Minimum Qualifications
High School Diploma or G.E.D. One (1) month of experience in a customer service based setting.
Preferred Qualifications
Exceptional customer service skills. At least one (1) month of infraction free driving record. Ability to interact well with the public and maintain a positive and professional attitude in all situations. Basic computer skills with a windows operating system. Ability to communicate via email text and phone. Effective oral/written communication skills including the ability to interact with a diverse group of people. Flexibility and calmness in dealing with the public even under stressful conditions. Ability to assimilate and understand information in a manner consistent with the essential job functions and translate information accurately and effectively to others. Ability to follow verbal and written directions. Ability to use sound judgement and independence in determining priorities and handling situations. Knowledge of and/or ability to learn and apply a variety of University and departmental policies. Ability to keep sensitive information confidential at all times. Ability to use and/or learn to use twoway radio for communication even during stressful conditions. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor. Familiarity and/or ability to learn the University of the Pacific campus. Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures. Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice equity and inclusion in a university setting. Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.
