Graduation from an accredited school of Nursing and Associate degree in Nursing required. Bachelors degree or Masters degree in Nursing preferred.
Four (4) years direct service experience treating the mentally ill
Four (4) years supervisory experience in an inpatient setting preferred
Prior experience as Charge Nurse in acute psychiatric setting/skilled care or Program Director of acute care psych unit preferred
Licensed as a Registered Nurse (CA) is required
Current American Heart Association or Red Cross First Responder CPR certification
LPS certified to facilitate the completion of applications 5150/5585 for clients in need preferred
Valid California Drivers License
Meets agency driver eligibility criteria BLS CPR/First Aid
How you will make a difference:
The RN/Nursing Department Supervisor ensures that each client receives the nursing care treatment medications and diet which have been ordered by the attending physician/psychiatric nurse practitioner ensuring the overall quality of licensed nursing care for the facility in conjunction with Regional Registered Nurse and/or Senior DON and/or Medical Director. Participates in budget development for the Nursing Department and is responsible for its implementation and management. Selects hires and supervises all staff in the Nursing Department. Aids in the development and maintaining of service objectives standards of nursing practice nursing policy and procedure manuals and written job descriptions for all nursing personnel. Maintains ongoing leadership that is in alignment with agency and program. Maintains and perpetuates departmental adherence to governmental entities and other stakeholders and policies and regulations. Collaborates with external and internal departments and agencies to facilitate the smooth operation of the facility adherence to regulating entities policies and optimal patient care.
Division/Program Overview:
The Crisis Stabilization Unit (CSU) is a place where people experiencing a mental health crisis can go to be stabilized. These facilities operate 24/7 to provide crisis stabilization. It can be compared to an Urgent Care Center where people often go for a medical emergency instead of going to the hospital ER.
Crisis stabilization service
Up to 16 adults (ages 18 and up) and four adolescents (ages 13 to 17)
Doctors nurses therapists peer counselors
24/7 Outpatient Crisis Program
Patients may stay up to 24 hours. Designed to prevent psychiatric hospitalizations the CSU will help clients to stabilize and will also provide referrals to other needed services. Transportation is provided as needed.
