Clinical Specialist Palliative Care CNS
Guildford Hospital Nursing Permanent Part Time
Up to 50000.00 pro rata dependent on skills and experience plus enhancements
25 hours per week with potential to become full time equivalent
We have an opportunity for an experienced Palliative Care CNS to join our Hospital. This post offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced palliative care nurse to set up a service at Nuffield Health Guildford Hospital.
As a Palliative Care CNS you will be work closely with the Palliative Care Consultant as well as with other members of the MDT to provide the highest standards of specialist nursing care to patients with complex palliative care symptom control and End of Life Care (EOLC) needs. The post holder will be expected to look at current provision of palliative care support and develop the service to meet the growing needs of the patients. This is a permanent parttime position with the potential of becoming Full time and also potential to Saturday working in the future
As a Palliative Care CNS you will:
Independently manage own caseload & responsible for the care and management of patients with life limiting illnesses including the provision of specialist symptom control social emotional and spiritual care for the patient and family.
Ensure continual optimal care for inpatients outpatients and their families.
Sharing of expert knowledge and training other members of staff
Facilitate and support healthcare teams to implement evidencebased practice and will contribute to the development of the Palliative and EOL Care Services.
Development of policies protocols and guidelines for palliative care patients and ensuring they are implemented
Initiate and audit the clinical effectiveness of the palliative care service.
Skills & Experience:
Registered Nurse with valid NMC pin.
PostGraduate Diploma in Palliative Care Nursing or equivalent and/or evidence of Masters level learning.
Considerable post registration experience in an acute hospital within an oncology setting with experience in palliative care or area of relevance.
Clinical leadership qualities including team working and team building skills with excellent communication & organizational skills and the ability to problem solve in all types of situations.
Level 2 Psychological Care Training / Advanced communication skills and systemic AntiCancer Therapy (SACT) courseare desirable.
