Job Description
AWS Utility Computing (UC) provides product innovations from foundational services such as Amazons Simple Storage Service (S3) and Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) to consistently released new product innovations that continue to set AWSs services and features apart in the industry. As a member of the UC organization youll support the development and management of Compute Database Storage Internet of Things (Iot) Platform and Productivity Apps services in AWS including support for customers who require specialized security solutions for their cloud services.
Amazon is looking for a passionate talented and inventive Applied Scientist with a strong machine learning background to help build industryleading language technology.
Our mission is to provide a delightful experience to Amazons customers by pushing the envelope in Natural Language Processing (NLP) Generative AI Large Language Model (LLM) Natural Language Understanding (NLU) Machine Learning (ML) RetrievalAugmented Generation Responsible AI Agent Evaluation and Model Adaptation.
As part of our AI team in Amazon AWS you will work alongside internationally recognized experts to develop novel algorithms and modeling techniques to advance the stateoftheart in human language technology. Your work will directly impact millions of our customers in the form of products and services as well as contributing to the wider research community. You will gain hands on experience with Amazons heterogeneous text and structured data sources and largescale computing resources to accelerate advances in language understanding.
The Science team at AWS Agentic AI builds the scientific foundations of our service which enables customers to create and deploy powerful agentic systems through a unified API. We are passionate about continuously advancing the stateoftheart in autonomous AI agents and exploring creative ways to delight our customers. In our daily work we tackle largescale AI agent challenges and apply rigorous research methods to develop efficient scalable and innovative solutions.

3 years of building models for business application experience
PhD or Masters degree and 4 years of CS CE ML or related field experience
Experience in patents or publications at toptier peerreviewed conferences or journals
Experience programming in Java C Python or related language
Experience in any of the following areas: algorithms and data structures parsing numerical optimization data mining parallel and distributed computing highperformance computing
Experience using Unix/Linux
Experience in professional software development

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $136000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $223400/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on jobrelated knowledge skills and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
