Job Title: Multilith Operator II

Supervisor: Director of Business and Facilities

Classification: Classified

FLSA Status: Nonexempt

Days: 260

Summary:Assists in planning and coordinating the production of the central duplicating facility to ensure a smooth workflow following the needs of the District; consults with the Supervisor in determining needs; advises on the selection of printing processes paper and binding etc..

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Initiates and develops efficient procedures techniques and publication records for consistent and economical production.
  • Instructs in the use of machines as necessary based on need.
  • Provides training in the printing process equipment maintenance etc.
  • Establishes and maintains a coordinated production schedule.
  • Acquires materials and supplies to provide departments with the level of service required in their duplication needs.
  • Distributes work to employees and answers employee questions.
  • Estimates the cost of jobs and looks for the most economical means of completing assignments.
  • Maintains paperwork for jobs completed.
  • Performs daily maintenance on machinery and makes minor adjustments as necessary.
  • Runs copies of materials for various district personnel.
  • Assists in maintaining files determining priorities and distributing materials.
  • Operates the Total Copy System and any other copy systems employed by the District offset duplicating machines camera collator bindery equipment stitcher cutter and a paper punch.
  • Handles and disposes of chemicals and solvents safely and consistently with established procedures.
  • Maintains competency in all position responsibilities.
  • Complies with all safety and work rules policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for properly utilizing operating and maintaining all department resources.
  • Provides support to other positions as needed.
  • Assumes additional responsibilities as appropriate with little or no supervision.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Marginal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Stacks paper during delivery.
  • Takes out the recycled paper.
  • Sorts mail.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • All Medford School District employees are responsible for supervising students and assisting in maintaining a safe environment.

Qualifications:An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge skills and abilities required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential job functions.

Education and/or Experience:High school diploma or General Education Diploma (GED); two years related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience or training in the use of Total Copy System or equivalent duplicator.

Interpersonal Skills:Ability to interact appropriately with teachers staff members of the community and students. Focuses on solving conflict; maintains confidentiality; Contributes to building a positive team spirit.

Language Skills:Ability to communicate fluently in English verbally and in writing. Preference may be given to applicants fluent in both English and Spanish. Ability to effectively present information and respond verbally to questions from groups of parents administrators students school staff and the general public. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills:Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest commissions proportions percentages area circumference and volume.

Reasoning Ability:Ability to apply common sense understanding to complete instructions furnished in written oral or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills:General knowledge of computer usage and ability to use email internet software order processing spreadsheets inventory software and word processing software.

Other Skills and Abilities:To perform this job successfully the individual should know the operation adjustment maintenance and capabilities of offset process machinery and other duplication and binding equipment and the application of equipment related to offset printing i.e. materials papers inks chemicals practices of lithograph printing.

Certificates Licenses Registrations:Certificates as determined by the District including a valid Oregon drivers license.

While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to stand. The employee is frequently required to stand talk or hear; walk; use hands for fine manipulation; handle feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally is required to sit; climb or balance; stoop kneel crouch or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and frequently up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision color vision distant vision distance vision the ability to adjust focus and depth perception. Must speak clearly to be understood and identify and understand the speech of othersemotional stability to work effectively under pressure and control all aspects of the job.
