Music TeacherReports to: Head of SchoolCollaborates with: Division Directors Classroom Teachers Director of Auxiliary ProgramsFLSA Status: 3/4 time (with potential for fulltime through afterschool programming)Start Date: July 1 2025Position Summary:The Music Teacher is responsible for designing and delivering a joyful inclusive and developmentally appropriate music education program for all students at Jackson Walnut Parkfrom toddlers in the Montessori division through sixth grade in the Catholic elementary division. This teacher cultivates a love of music through singing movement rhythm listening and instrumental experiences that support creative expression community and confidence. The role includes the planning of inschool performances and offers the potential to expand to fulltime through afterschool music enrichment Responsibilities:Curriculum & InstructionPlan and teach engaging music lessons for students ages 18 months through grade 6 adapted to each developmental stage and learning students to a wide range of musical experiences including rhythm melody movement vocal work and ageappropriate instrumental elements of world music liturgical music (for the Catholic division) and crossdisciplinary connections when & Community EngagementOrganize and direct student performances and showcases throughout the school year including seasonal concerts and community music to schoolwide events assemblies and liturgical celebrations in coordination with faculty and a classroom environment that values cooperation selfexpression and respect for diverse musical & School LifeWork closely with classroom teachers and division directors to integrate music into the broader curriculum and community regularly with families about student learning performance opportunities and musical in faculty meetings school events and professional development as AfterSchool EnrichmentDesign and lead afterschool music programming (e.g. choir drumming circle instrumental ensemble music and movement for young children) to expand student access to musical with the Director of Auxiliary Programs to support registration scheduling and :Bachelors degree in Music Education or related field required; advanced degree preferredExperience teaching music to early childhood and elementaryaged childrenFamiliarity with Orff Kodly Dalcroze or other childcentered music pedagogies a plusComfortable leading both secular and sacred music within a missionaligned faithinformed environmentStrong classroom management and interpersonal skillsFlexibility creativity and a joyful approach to teaching and learningCore Competencies:Passion for music and a gift for sharing it with childrenAbility to adapt to a range of ages and learning environments (Montessori and Catholic settings)Collaborative communicative and organizedCulturally responsive and inclusive approach to music educationWillingness to grow the role through enrichment programming if desired
