The LA County Board of Supervisors recently declared a local state of emergency for homelessness and the County is working to revise and expand its response to help all who are affected. We are looking for qualified and passionate individuals to help us address issues like housing mental health and substance use. Department of Health Services Community Programs (Housing for Health for Homelessness) and Office of Diversion and Reentry seek qualified candidates to fill emergency Supervising Clinic Nurse I Community Programsvacancies related to the homelessness crisis.

Under the emergency order applicants who meet the requirements may be hired for an initial period of up to 90 days with an opportunity for permanent County employment.

Before your initial work period ends you will be assessed on your work performance. This assessment will be weighted 100%.

Those who successfully pass the assessment will be considered for permanent appointment as Supervising Clinic Nurse I Community Programs.


ABOUT LOS ANGELES COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH SERVICES:

ABOUT COMMUNITY PROGRAMS:

Community Programs at the Department of Health Services (DHS) supports a range of programs that provide healthcare services and resources to the most vulnerable patientsacross Los Angeles County. The Community Programs Unit includes Housing for Health Office of Diversion and Reentry My Health LA and other community programs.



THE MISSION:
To advance the health of our patients and our communities by providing extraordinary care.

DEFINITION:
Provides the first level of supervision to a group of nursing personnel in a clinic dispensary infirmary or emergency care unit.

CLASSIFICATION STANDARDS:
Positions allocable to this class work in Health Services Agency or Probation Department clinics dispensaries infirmaries or emergency units and are responsible for performing the full range of firstlevel administrative and technical supervisory functions over nursing personnel including registered nurses. Positions require knowledge of essential supervision and professional nursing techniques and procedures for the assigned unit. Positions are accountable for exercising supervisory nursing judgment when evaluating the performance of personnel assessing the quality of care being provided and determining the effectiveness of nursing and administrative procedures for their units. Supervising Clinic Nurses I may supervise employees on the same or a different shift. Positions in this class work under the general direction of either higherlevel supervisory nurses or physicians in conformity with the established policies and procedures of the facility or unit. Supervising Clinic Nurse I may perform direct patient services as a part of their overall duties.

SELECTION REQUIREMENTS:
1. One (1) year experience as a registered nurse leading staff in providing nursing care or services.*

AND

2. Alicense to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing.**

AND

3.Current certification by the American Heart Associations Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers (CPR & AED) Program.

LICENSE(S) AND CERTIFICATE(S) REQUIRED:
**To compete in this examination process applicants must have a license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by the California Board of Registered Nursing OR have a license to practice as a Registered Nurse issued by a State Government Board of Registered Nursing within the United States of America.

PHYSICAL CLASS II Light:

*For this examination lead experience is defined as assigning coordinating and reviewing the work ensuring proper work methods are followed and providing technical assistance and training.
