Data Scientist IV
The Institute for Child Health Policy (ICHP) at the University of Florida is seeking a Data Scientist IV to join its leadership team. This role focuses on supporting research and program evaluation for Medicaid and the Childrens Health Insurance Program (CHIP) assessing the quality of care for beneficiaries. The ideal candidate will have expertise in administrative healthcare data Medicaid policy and advanced analytical methods. Responsibilities include leading research projects developing datadriven insights collaborating with a multidisciplinary team of health policy researchers and economists and authoring technical reports. Strong communication skills and a proven track record in data science are essential. This position offers a hybrid work schedule providing flexibility while engaging in meaningful impactful healthcare research.

Research Development: Leverage expertise in healthcare administrative and clinical data to support the design and execution of research studies evaluating healthcare quality access and outcomes for the Medicaid population. Apply advanced analytical methods and predictive analytics to address key research questions. Collaborate with research teams to identify critical healthcare challenges develop study frameworks and analyze findings. Contribute to the dissemination of research through technical reports and policy journals.
Data Analytics: Utilize data science methodologies and statistical software such as SAS Python and R to analyze and interpret healthcare data. Employ database and analytical platforms (e.g. MS SQL) to develop queries manipulate administrative and clinical data and design scripts that integrate data from multiple sources into centralized data collection systems. Ensure data is transformed and prepared for analytical use. Work closely with statisticians and programmers to identify and resolve data issues while maintaining alignment with research protocols. Stay informed on industry trends emerging data sources tools and methodologies to enhance Medicaid data analysis and qualityofcare metrics. Recommend improvements in data collection processing and reporting to optimize accuracy and timeliness. Assist in developing monitoring systems for continuous evaluation of care delivery and service accessibility for Medicaid beneficiaries.
Strategic Leadership and Policy Integration: Interpret and apply state and federal regulations relevant to assigned projects identifying policy implications based on research findings and integrating recommendations into descriptive and technical reports. Effectively communicate statistical and data related concepts to nonstatistical audiences including managers and researchers from other disciplines. Lead or colead small project teams providing strategic tactical and operational leadership. Drive strategic initiatives lead enterprise change management efforts and foster collaborations with external stakeholders within the Medicaid agency. Offer expert guidance on policy procedural and operational issues related to the project. Additionally present research at conferences lead technical reports develop project timelines and make staffing decisions as needed. Serve as the primary stakeholder contact project expert or lead analyst on projects ensuring timely completion of deliverables and providing regular progress updates to the Director.
Team Development Training and Hiring: Participate in hiring training and supervision of other data managers and analysts.
Other Duties: Support drafting budgets data use agreements and other projectrelated duties as assigned.
