Job Description

  • Max term part time term position until 30 June 2026 offering 3 to 4 days per week
  • Based at Penrith but will also work across sites in Western Sydney including St Marys and Mt Druitt
  • Provide counselling support and specialist group programmes to individuals and families through collaborative practices

We are looking for a compassionate and skilled Counsellor to join our Mens Behaviour Change Program providing support and specialist group programs to men aiming to change abusive behaviours.

About the Role:

The purpose of this very rewarding role is to provide counselling support and specialist group programmes to individuals and families through collaborative practices that are:

  • Trauma informed
  • Evidence Based
  • Psychoeducational

Supporting clients from all walks of life to overcome difficulties build resilience to enhance their quality of life and relationships. Being skilled in working with families experiencing domestic violence with the willingness to work with people who have experienced and those who use violence as this is a high percentage of our core business

About You:

The successful applicant will bring:

  • Tertiary qualifications in relevant human services (e.g. Psychology Counselling) or equivalent demonstrated experience
  • Clinical membership of relevant professional body (e.g. PACFA Psychotherapy and Counsellors Association of Australia)
  • Experience working with men and facilitating Mens Behaviour Change Programs
  • Demonstrated experience & skills in counselling and group work
  • Experience in providing counselling in an agency setting
  • Demonstrated experience & skills in individual and group settings with people experiencing and/or using Domestic Family Violence (leading DV programs/groups)
  • Experience in trauma informed practice
  • Demonstrated experience relating to diverse groups e.g. Government departments & other agencies
  • Demonstrate an understanding and appreciation of BaptistCares Christian identity and promote the organisations values through interactions at work
  • Demonstrated understanding of inclusive respectful practice when working with First Nations culturally and linguistically diverse LGBTIA and people with disabilities
  • Demonstrated commitment to social justice outcomes in counselling & group work
  • Excellent written & oral communication skills
  • Working with Children Check (or willingness to obtain)
  • Willing to undergo a Police Check
  • Current Drivers License
