The Institute for Mental and Physical Health and Clinical Translation (IMPACT) in the School of Medicine at Deakin University is seeking a Senior Grant Writer to write submit and oversee the development and preparation of multiinvestigator and largescale projects that arise from interdisciplinary research initiatives. This position will provide proposal development support to dynamic teams of institute investigators to develop highquality coherent compelling and innovative largescale research proposals (over $1M per project) with a primary focus on expanding a portfolio of federally funded grants.

As a Senior Grant Writer you will:

  • Assist IMPACT Directors in the identification of promising funding opportunities and development of appropriate teams of investigators to pursue upcoming and existing large multidisciplinary funding opportunities.
  • Lead strategic planning and facilitation of collaborative proposal concepts for multiple investigator proposals.
  • Provide guidance to investigators collaborators subcontractors and others regarding proposal requirements and compliance with funding body and sponsor requirements federal regulations and university policies and procedures.
  • Plan and write nontechnical and support and edit technical portions of the proposal including comprehensive editorial review with academic input guidance and direction from lead investigators.
  • Serve as a liaison between IMPACT and the central grants administration team for proposal submission (preaward) including notices of intention to submit and grant coversheets to assure adherence to submission and compliance guidelines for all project aspects.

To be successful youll have:

  • Postgraduate qualifications in mental or physical health related field with extensive relevant experience or progress towards appropriate postgraduate qualifications
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in grant writing at institutional level
  • Proven history of writing and submitting Category 1 grants as an investigator with record of achieving successful grant applications
  • Proven track record and demonstrated expertise in grant writing academic writing and research methods preferably in mental and physical health or related disciplines
  • Strong proofreading abilities and outstanding attention to detail
