Job Description

Position Title: Seasonal Coordinator Art & Exhibitions

Department: Interpretation/Exhibitions

Reports to: Director of Interpretation and Exhibitions

FLSA Status: Parttime Seasonal Nonexempt

Compensation: $35 per hour

Schedule: 2530 hours a week MayNovember 2025

Art has been a primary vehicle used to encourage visitors to make connections between science and the beauty of nature for decades. BBG currently welcomes over 860000 visitors each year.


Position Overview:

Brooklyn Botanic Garden is launching an art fellowship that will work with artists and environmental thinkers to create sciencebased sitespecific artwork through an 18month fellowship. Fostering cocreation and collaboration among artists and environmental thinkers and displaying their work the project deepens the Gardens connection to science and inspires an appreciation and sense of stewardship of the environment. To carry this out BBG is looking for a detailoriented Art & Science Fellowship coordinator to join our team on a parttime basis. This position will also coordinate and implement other art exhibitions at BBG.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Create and manage an RFP process and tracking system.
  • Liaise between artists and the Garden (various departments).
  • Manage daily administrative tasks such as email correspondence scheduling etc.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports and presentations.
  • Support the team with project coordination and followup.
  • Assist with drafting and/or editing exhibition materials (e.g. interpretive labels checklists and guides).
  • Establish effect communication systems with BBG staff and artists.
  • Assist with planning for and execution of installation.


Qualifications:

  • Four years related career experience preferred (work with artists and project management)
  • Superior organizational and communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Comfort with deadlinedriven work
  • Ability to multitask
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite Google Workspace PowerPoint and Excel
  • Flexibility and sense of humor a must
