Job Description:
Position Purpose summary:
The Day Camp Leader is responsible for coordinating conducting and supervising all day camp activities while assisting the leadership and direction of day camp staff. The Day Camp Leader will provide a safe fun caring environment while the children are participating in a variety of activities making new friends and learning about the Christian faith. Summer employment: Starting June 30 August 29 2025
Accountabilities:
Program Leadership
Lead the development and implementation of camp activities coordinating the schedule
Provide direct leadership of daily camp operations and assist with various camp activities including Bible lessons arts & crafts music sports and games.
Oversee engagement of volunteers and their activities.
Observe camper behavior assess its appropriateness and address issues as needed.
Chaperone children on field trips
Encourage respect for personal property camp equipment and facilities.
Ensure the health and safety of all children
Create and implement a weekly Day Camp program for children aged 6 12 overseeing daytoday operations of the camp
Works with the camp counsellors in planning and implementing camp
Responsible for daily camp logistics
Supervise scheduled activities
Be aware of all safety protocol and government regulations and ensure that the camp falls in line with these requirements. This includes Covid19 protocols and procedures as well as Online Safety regulations for The Salvation Army.
Work cooperatively with the camp staff church staff and families of those children attending day camp.
Attend all staff training/orientation and meetings
Perform other duties as assigned.

MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY:
Reports directly to: Corps Officer and/or Children & Youth Ministries Coordinator
Direct reports for this position: Day Camp Assistants (x2) program volunteers
FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:
Collect and record camp fees from parents
Develop shopping list of supplies required remaining within program budget
WORKING CONDITIONS:
Working with children from the ages of 612 years old.
Indoor and outdoor environment
Fast paced and noisy environment
Walking to local parks depending on weather conditions

Completion of Secondary School.
This position is funded in part through the Canada Summer Jobs Program and the following represents the applicant criteria:
Is between 15 and 30 years of age (inclusive) at the start of the employment.
Is a Canadian citizen permanent resident or person on whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act*: and
Is legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial / territorial legislation and regulations. *International students are not eligible.
Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements:
Experience in leadership in a camp setting
Minimum 2 years experience working with children.
Standard First Aid and CPR (an asset but not required)
Have access to a computer with reliable internet connection as file access and meetings may take place online.

Ability to undergo applicable screening and background checks successfully that are satisfactory to The Salvation Army in its sole discretion (i.e. The Salvation Army Abuse Registry) and provide an original copy of a Background Check with vulnerable sector screening
Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Compensation:
The target hiring range for this position is $17.61 to $22.01 with a maximum of $26.41.Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
