Welding AssistantJob Description:
POSITION TITLE:Welding AssistantPOSITION SUMMARY
Provides assistance to faculty in setting up lab demonstrations; maintains inventory records; creates work orders; maintains cleanliness; troubleshoots equipment.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Troubleshoot repair and calibrate equipment as required to assure all lab stations in the welding lab are in good working order.
2. Order and stock replacement parts for equipment service and general laboratory supplies including consumables gasses steel and welding accessory parts.
3. Prepare and maintain records of inventory or equipment service and calibration records on equipment.
4. Create and track work orders for repairs; prepare material list for purchase orders.
5. Perform demonstrations and test equipment use office equipment hand tools measuring tools machine tools and have the ability to build items from prints written and oral instructions.
6. Supervise required general physical maintenance cleanliness and general organization of all lab stations.
7. Assist instructors in setting up lab demonstrations as needed.
8. Contribute to the accomplishment of departmental goals through participation in department meetings and collegewide committees when required.
9. Learn and apply working knowledge of plasma cam software.
10. Perform related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Demonstrated technical competence work experience and indepth knowledge in welding and equipment services.
3. One (1) year of related experience or one year of related training.
4. Ability to use hand power tools all machines used in the welding lab and common office equipment.
5. Ability to make custom parts.
6. Ability to set up and operate machines.
7. Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with other members of the college and community displaying cultural competence as well as emotional intelligence.
8. Demonstrated commitment to the colleges core values of respect and inclusion sustainability integrity collaboration humor and wellbeing innovation and quality.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
1. Associates degree in Welding Technology.
2. Personal Computer skills.
3. English and Spanish verbal and written communication proficiency.
4. Demonstrated multicultural competence.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
1. Industrial welding and office equipment hand tools measuring tools machine tools.
WORKING CONDITIONS
1. Duties are performed indoors in the industrial welding lab environment and occasional outdoor environment.
WORK HOURS
20 hours per week
Days and time to be determined based on semester schedule and need.
