The Buyer at MartinBaker America is responsible for total life cycle purchasing including but not limited to the following activities:
Primary Responsibilities:
- Prepares secures analyses and maintains RFQs data in the ERP system in accordance with USG regulation
- Negotiates pricing and deliveries with minimal guidance engaging with senior buyers or management as needed.
- Utilizes proper sourcing techniques to make best value award justifications in accordance with USG regulation
- Building long term sourcing strategies to align with corporate objectives.
- Monitors ERP system for purchase orders with delinquent deliveries and confers with suppliers to obtain delivery status and build recovery schedules.
- Maintains complete and accurate purchasing data in the ERP system.
- Monitors purchase order requisitions and converts them to purchase orders in a timely manner.
- Monitor and manage risk to the Procurement Organization.
Secondary responsibilities
- Initiates purchase orders and amendments and arranges for submission and inspection of First Articles or sample products as required.
- Coordinates as appropriate with quality and planning/operations to support the product lines as needed.
- Obtains missing or revised shipping/quality documentation from suppliers when required.
- Coordinates return or scrap of discrepant product to supplier.
- Attends meetings and represent on behalf of the Purchasing Department.
- Builds relationships with suppliers by working through issues development strategies etc. visiting them periodically.
MartinBaker America is seeking a candidate for this position who possesses the following education skills and abilities:
- Bachelors Degree or minimum of two (2) to four (4) years of experience in purchasing or related fields preferable in the Aerospace/Defense Industry. Must have experience with ERP or MRP systems and strong computer skills.
- Previous experience must demonstrate the ability to achieve the roles primary objectives and motivation to grow in responsibility.
- Position requires a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail. Must be familiar with the use of tools and techniques to measure supply chain effectiveness.
- Position requires the ability to make persuasive presentations to company executives suppliers customers and external agencies both orally and in writing. Position requires the ability to clearly communicate information to peers and superiors.
- Position requires a motivated and independent attitude; an eagerness to achieve win/win settlements to strengthen our contracts and build long lasting supplier relationships.
