THE POSITION

The Department of Environmental Protection is seeking an experienced individual to join our team in the Bituminous Mine Safety Division. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
As a Mining Engineer Consultant you will provide technical and engineering support within the Bureau of Mine Safety to ensure operations are conducted efficiently effectively and towards the goal of ensuring the safety of underground miners and the public. In this position you will perform highly advanced analytical developmental and consultative reviews to mining engineering problems. Your duties will include providing mining engineering leadership and coordinating with others for complex agency projects. You can expect to ensure the safety of underground miners and the public by providing engineering and technical support. Additionally you will provide technical reviews of mine plans ranging from roof control ventilation and mining operating systems.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Fulltime employment
- Work hours are 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM Monday Friday with a 30minute lunch.
- Telework:You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) parttime up to 3 days per week. In order to telework you must have a securely configured highspeed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in New Stanton.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- Two years as a Mining Engineer or Mining Engineering Supervisor(Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title as determined by the Office of Administration);or
- Five years of professional mining engineering experience.
Special Requirements:
- You must have possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers Land Surveyors and Geologists or a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the applicable licensing body of another state.
Conditions of Employment:
- This position will require possession of a valid Pennsylvania drivers license.
Post Employment Requirements:
- Successful candidates with an out of state Professional Engineer license will be required to produce a valid Professional Engineer license issued by Pennsylvania within their initial six month probationary period.
Other Requirements:
- PA residency requirementis currentlywaived for this title.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
