Location:Longmore House (with hybrid working)
Working Hours:Monday Friday 35 hours per week
Interviews: To be held in person at Longmore House on Week Commencing 9 June 2025
You will support the development and delivery of national policy and guidance that supports good decision making in the historic environment. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a small team that delivers guidance related to Historic Environment Scotlandsregulatory and advisory roles.
You will research a range of topics and engage with people across HES the heritage sector and beyond to inform our strategic programme of work. You will also support the delivery of individual guidance projects.

Key Responsibilities of this role
- Work with the Senior Heritage Policy Officer and Deputy Head of Heritage Policy to support a strategic approach and programme for delivery of heritage management policy guidance and published advice.
- Contribute to drafting editing and proofing guidance and policy documents ensuring that they are consistent with policy and legislation accessible and written in plain English.
- Provide project support for the production and publishing of documents ensuring they are delivered efficiently and adhere to the appropriate project processes.
- Undertake monitoring research and analysis to provide an evidence base for theManaging Change guidance programme as well as on individual guidance topics.
- Support the running of the Managing Change Programme Board including providing secretariat support.
- Support the drafting and delivery of position statements such asPointing the Way to the Future.
- Coordinate and facilitate stakeholder engagement related to our advice guidance and policy work and analyse responses. This can include developing and delivering workshops and online surveys.
- Draft communications material such as website text emails and blogs to promote our guidance and policy work.
Key requirements of the role:

Essential:
- Demonstrated skill in writing to make complex information accessible and easy to understand.
- Experience providing support to project development or implementation to ensure efficient and effective delivery.
- Ability to monitor research and analyse wideranging information and identify and communicate priorities. This may include experience in analysing user feedback or researching into current policy use.
- Experience engaging with internal or external stakeholders.
- Knowledge of ongoing and upcoming issues for the historic environment and planning sectors.
- Experience in historic environment sector town planning or environmental specialism
