About the Faculty of Arts

Mount Royal Universitys Faculty of Arts houses the following departments: Economics Justice and Policy Studies; English Languages and Cultures; Humanities; Interior Design; Psychology; General Education; and Sociology and Anthropology. Counseling also reports to the Faculty of Arts. The Faculty of Arts offers degrees in Anthropology Criminal Justice English History Interior Design Policy Studies Psychology and Sociology and offers courses to the 15000 students enrolled at Mount Royal University. In addition the Faculty of Arts offers 26 minors over a diverse range of disciplines. Arts faculty have received national and international recognition for their teaching and research hold TriCouncil grants publish books and disseminate research in topranked academic journals..

The Department of Psychology currently offers a degree program in Psychology with majors in Psychology and Psychology Honours as well as a minor in Psychology.

About the Role

The Department of Psychology is inviting applications for a Research Coordinator. This parttime (20 hours/week) position is until November 30 2025 with the possibility of extension. The position will report to Dr. Joanne Park Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychology at Mount Royal University.

The incumbent willplay a key role in supporting the research projects conducted by Dr. Park and the Parenting Resilient Kids (PaRK) Lab including conducting literature reviews coding tasks and entering data. They will alsoperform tasks and routines to support the operations of the PaRK Lab. Strong communication organizational analytical and problemsolving skills are critical.

Responsibilities

Job functions include but are not limited to:

  • Data monitoring entry cleaning scoring and organizing in SPSS and Microsoft Excel
  • Develop and update coding manuals for metaanalytic data extraction
  • Assist with abstract review data extraction and data entry for metaanalytic projects.
  • Work closely with the Principal Investigator and CoInvestigators in areas of protocol development and management of research projects
  • Support multiple research projects by providing knowledge skills and onthejob training to new lab members
  • Assist in completing ethics and grant applications
  • Maintain accurate data collection organization and recording
  • Support adherence to research protocols and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Help to prepare visuals figures and gather relevant information to support the development of publications and presentations.
  • Perform other related duties as required and assigned

Qualifications

Required:

  • A BA or BSc in Psychology social sciences health sciences or a related discipline
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well both independently and as part of a highly collaborative team
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
  • Strong organizational skills good judgment and concern for detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent time management skills including an ability to prioritize work to work under pressure and to meet deadlines
  • Computer literacy and ease with learning new software programs
  • Proven experience using MS Office programs (including Word Excel and Outlook)

Assets:

  • Previous experience as a research assistant in a social sciences or related discipline
  • General knowledge of developmental psychopathology
  • Experience conducting literature searches
  • Experience reading and interpreting the methods and results sections of academic research papers
  • Experience with systematic reviews
  • Excellent interpersonal skills including an ability to work in a team environment with lab associates
  • Ability to follow specific directions and research protocols
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with undergraduate students research participants and professors
  • High degree of familiarity with SPSS and/or R
  • Proficiency with computer software for writing and presentations databases database design and electronic medical record programs.

Salary: $ 23.39 $29.58 hour
