The Director of Alumni Relations is responsible for developing and managing a comprehensive alumni relations program that creates a meaningful and valueadded exchange between La Sierra University and its alumni community. The Director works to establish and maintain contact with alumni; receive and respond to requests for information and assistance from alumni; serve as a liaison between alumni and University departments; evaluate alumni participation in programs and activities and make changes as appropriate; develop and expand alumni chapters in key regions and plan and execute alumni events. The Director will also serve as the point person in the Office of Advancement in the coordination of selected campus special events.
Duties and Responsibilities
Initiate coordinate and promote alumni events activities and programs to encourage active alumni participation with the University.
1. Organize and supervise the annual Homecoming events.
2. Promote and assist the annual conventions that have high alumni attendance (e.g. ASI SDA Retirees)
3. Organize regional alumni activities (e.g. reunions receptions events etc.) especially in conjunction with visits by university representatives to distant areas.
Collaborates with senior Advancement personnel on the development and implementation of a comprehensive plan to increase alumni involvement and support.
1. Support Development Officers with timely and accurate Alumni information.
2. Assist with the annual fund by organizing Class Agents.
3. Assist with cultivation and solicitation of alumni to support University priorities.
4. Assist with special fundraising efforts.
Work closely with University Relations personnel to develop and coordinate a comprehensive alumni communications strategy.
1. Provide editorial input for appropriate publications.
2. Maintain and update Alumni website.
3. Ensure implementation and effectiveness of lifetime email arrangement.
4. Identify and generate other creative communications as needed.
5. Produce and distribute an Alumni directory (approximately every five years).
Supervise temporary employees student workers and volunteers on a parttime basis as they are needed to assist with scheduled programs; supervise contract personnel and outside vendors for special events as needed.
Serve on committees as assigned.
Engage the Student Alumni.
Coordinate and supervise selected campus Special Events as directed by the vice president.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of modern office procedures and methods including telephone communications office systems and record keeping. Ability to learn technology used by the Advancement office.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions and to deal with problems as they arise.
Ability to perform basic math skills using decimals to compute ratios and percents and to draw and interpret graphs.
Ability to use passive vocabulary of 56000 words; to read at a slow rate; define unfamiliar words in dictionaries for meaning spelling and pronunciation. Ability to write complex sentences using proper punctuation adjectives and adverbs.
Ability to communicate in complex sentences; using normal word order with present and past tenses; and using a good vocabulary.
Finger dexterity using primarily just the fingers to make small movements such as typing picking up objects or pinching fingers together.
Ability to talk especially where one must frequently convey detailed or important instructions or ideas accurately.
Average hearing able to hear average or normal conversations and receive ordinary information.
A high level of competence in both written and verbal communication skills.
Attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to exercise professional judgment in decisions regarding public relations and media responsibilities.
Ability to work as part of an energetic team.
Ability to supervise plan and manage numerous concurrent projects.
Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines.
Must be able to interact with Business and other members of upper administration and outside community.
Ability to think quickly conceptually and creatively.
Ability to assimilate information from a variety of sources analyze information and recommend courses of action to be taken.

Credentials and Experience
Bachelors degree required.
Experience in training and managing volunteers.
May include some light lifting as well as typical office demands. Travel will be expected including evening and weekend appointments.
Salary Wage Range: $68640.00 to $75500.00 plus generous benefits listed below:
