- As part of an exciting Fine and Performing Arts Expansion New Bedford Public Schools is excited to announce an opening for a dynamic and passionate Elementary Theater Teacher! We are deeply committed to an inclusive curriculum and a school community that reflects the rich diversity of our student population. Theater plays a vital role in inspiring creativity cultural expression and a sense of belonging among our students. We are looking for a Theater Teacher who is enthusiastic about teaching committed to equity and inclusion and eager to contribute to the vibrant and diverse New Bedford community. - Plan and implement instruction to ensure that all students meet and exceed Common Core Standards and State Frameworks
- Use of data to inform instruction to track student progress and to track progress of self through selfevaluation and goal setting
- Deliver engaging targeted instruction that meets MA DESE and Common Core Standards for level and subject taught
- Differentiate services and instruction to meet variety of student learning needs and strengths
- Maintain active communication with students families in support of their learning and to communicate with families consistently and regularly throughout the school year about their childrens academic and social progress
- Assess student performance using formal summative and portfolio assessments to drive instruction
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal
- Hold Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education license as an Academic: Teacher Theatre: All Levels
- Possess knowledge of secondary theatre education methods and the ability to navigate technology software and applications.
- Have experience designing and implementing engaging lessons units and assessments that correlate to the MA Frameworks for Theatre
- Have positive classroom management techniques be responsive to student diversity enjoy working in an urban setting
- Have excellent interpersonal organizational and communication skills with colleagues administrators and parents
- Reports to: School Principal
- Rate: In accordance with the Unit A contract found here
