JOB TITLE: Consultant SouthSouth and Triangular Cooperation

DURATION: 11 months
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE OF THE ASSIGNMENT:
The World Food Programme (WFP) has stepped up its approach to broker SouthSouth and Triangular Cooperation (SSTC) to support national governments in achieving progress on food security and nutrition. SSTC is increasingly important for WFP and its host governments to access and mobilize the growing partnerships innovation expertise technologies and financial resources that already exist in developing countries and the global South.
The WFP Division of Multilateral and Programme Country Partnerships is hiring a regular consultant to support the Divisions work on SSTC. He/she will be the focal point for (i) knowledge management; and (ii) communications and advocacy.
The position will be based at WFP Headquarters in Rome Italy and will be for period of eleven months.
ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
the development and maintenance of a new external knowledge sharing platform for SSTC practitioners host governments academia and more.
the support to Regional Bureaus (RBx) in Bangkok and Cairo and the relative Country Offices including collection analysis and systematization of information from WFP Centres of Excellence and relative HQ units.
the involvement of SSTC colleagues in the Arab Coordination Group (ACG) opportunity preparation with the MPC front office.
the involvement of SSTC Unit in the Digital Hub development discussion for the Global Alliance Against Hunger and Poverty.
the SSTC Unit and support each RBx focal points in SSTC Unit for communication materials and channels for (e.g.: case studies factsheets yammer newsletters publications reports short briefs videos etc.) to increase visibility of SSTC brokered by WFP and to keep senior management and WFP practitioners in the field abreast of updates in this area.
of knowledge management tools for the SSTC Unit and support to RBx CoEs and COs to maintain channels at all levels.
of SSTC events in order to showcase successful experiences of developing countries for achieving zero hunger at the global and regional levels (e.g. RBA celebration of the UN Day for SSC).
the rollout of WFP SouthSouth Reviews in coordination with RBx and COs.
to the partnerships pillar in the SSTC unit to develop and design value proposition documents for targeted donors.
of a Junior Consultant for RBB RBC knowledge management and communications areas.

DELIVERABLES AT THE END OF THE CONTRACT:
Scaling up WFPs SSTC knowledge matching platform knowledge management strategy drafted and rolled out communications plan and community of practice rolledout SouthSouth newsletters and similar communication products developed collaborations with academia developed and subsequent materials rolledout.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Education:Advanced university degree in International Relations Economics Communications IT or other fields relevant to the job profile.
Experience:Fouryear experience in an international work context.
Knowledge & Skills:Familiarity with WFP operations and understanding WFPs approach to SouthSouth and triangular cooperation is an asset.
Experience in the field of knowledgemanagement and communications.
Specific experience in graphic design and management of knowledge platforms.
Demonstrated strong writing and communication skills.
Proficiency in MsOffice (Word Excel Power Point.
Proficiency in Tableau and web design programmes is an asset.
Good teamwork skills.
Languages:
Fluency in English language and knowledge of a second official UN language.
