DEPARTMENT: Teaching Credentials

POSITION TITLE: Lecturer Pool Teaching Credentials

POSITION DETAILS:

The Teaching Credentials Branch believes it is critical that educators are prepared within an antiracist framework and prepared to teach with an understanding of the communities within which they teach. The branch is committed to advancing thecampuswide commitment to antiracism and inclusion. We prepare future elementary secondary and special education teachers. As an anchor institution within the diverse Sacramento region we prepare teachers and leaders to be agents of change committed to social justice equity and inclusion in culturally and linguistically diverse schools and communities.

We seek parttime lecturers to serve as PK3 ECE Instruction Specialist Multiple Subject Single Subject and/or Special Education university supervisors in area PK12 schools. This work involves traveling to local schools to observe candidate instruction and mentor candidates; evaluating candidate progress towards meeting California Teaching Performance Expectations; and attending monthly meetings with other supervisory and instructional faculty.*For fully online programs virtual observations are allowed.

We also seek parttime lecturers to serve as instructional faculty in our PK3 and our Deaf and Hard of Hearing (DHH) programs. Duties of a parttime lecturer include instruction class preparation grading and office hours. Other duties may be assigned based on departmental needs. Course assignments including dates time and modality are made by the Department Chair under the direction of the College Dean.

Parttime lecturers are instructional faculty with conditional appointments based on enrollment and budget. Hires from the pool of applicants are made when there are instructional needs to fill coursework offered by an academic department based on changing enrollment patterns changes to tenuretrack faculty assignments and other factors that cannot be addressed with our existing faculty. Initial appointments are typically for one semester but occasionally academic year initial appointments are made. Appointments may be renewed based on department needs funding and performance. Often appointments are made just prior to the start of the semester.

Rank and Salary

Initial rank and salary for lecturer faculty are based on professional experience and educational background and are determined by the hiring department.

Most new lecturers are hired at the Lecturer A or B rank. As of July 2024 the classification salary ranges for the respective ranks are:

Lecturer A: $5507 $6677

Lecturer B: $6221 $13224

Lecturer C: $6825 $14523

Lecturer D: $8593 $15211

The salary ranges indicated are based on a fulltime rate (15 weighted teaching units WTUs). A semesters worth of compensation is made up of six (6) payments of the given amount. To calculate your salary for a semester the base rate would be prorated based on the units worked out of 15 WTUs. If you were a Lecturer A assigned 3 units at the minimum salary your pay would be structured as follows: $5507 x 3/15 (3 units out of a possible 15 units total) $1101.40 x 6 checks $6608.40 total for 3 units/semester.

REQUIRED/PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

PK3 ECE INSTRUCTION SPECIALIST

REQUIRED: Masters degree in education or related field or Bachelors degree with significant relevant professional experience (7 years or more)and recent PK3rdgrade professional experience (at least one assignment in the last 3 years); coursework emphasis (e.g. 24 units or more) in Early Childhood Education for either degree.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Doctorate in Education or related field. For field supervisor positions recent experience (within last 3 years) mentoring teacher candidates or new teachers in grades TK K or 1st; California Multiple Subject teaching credential; California Master Teacher Level or higher Child Development permit. For instructional faculty prior higher education teaching experience.

MULTIPLE SUBJECT

REQUIRED:
Masters degree in education or related field or Bachelors degree with significant relevant professional experience (7 years or more).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Doctorate; for instructional faculty prior higher education teaching experience; for field supervisor positions experience mentoring teacher candidates or new teachers; California Multiple Subject teaching credential.

SINGLE SUBJECT

REQUIRED: Masters degree in education or related field or Bachelors degree with significant relevant professional experience (7 years or more).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Doctorate; for instructional faculty prior higher education teaching experience; for field supervisor positions experience mentoring teacher candidates or new teachers; California Single Subject teaching credential

SPECIAL EDUCATION

REQUIRED:
Masters degree in education or related field or Bachelors degree with significant relevant professional experience (7 years or more).

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:Doctorate; for instructional faculty prior higher education teaching experience; for field supervisor positions experience mentoring teacher candidates or new teachers;California Education Specialist teaching credential.
