Tukwila/Seattle WA
Ashburn VA

The Data Center Design Director will lead the strategic planning design and development of our data centers ensuring they meet the highest standards of reliability costeffectiveness and sustainability. The Director will work closely with senior executives The Director works closely with the Chief Technical Officer the VP of Engineering and Development Sabey Architecture the Owners Representatives and the Sabey Construction project teams to achieve project goals.
This position can be based onsite at any of the following Sabey Data Centers locations: Tukwila/Seattle WA; Ashburn VA; or Austin TX.
Salary Range: $1 depending on experience
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Collaborate with senior executives to align design initiatives with company goals
- Generate and maintain Owners Project Requirements through the development of comprehensive project requirements in collaboration with stakeholders to guide the design process.
- Create and publish a Basis of Design for each project to establish the foundational design parameters and ensure they align with the OPR and project goals.
- Oversee teams of consultants through the entire design process for each project from concept to completion ensuring adherence to project timelines and budgets.
- Drive innovation and continuous improvement in data center design standards and practices.
- Monitor and ensure all designs adhere to company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Work closely with various stakeholders including operations and physical security teams to ensure their needs and requirements are integrated into the design.
- Identify and implement design improvements to enhance the reliability costeffectiveness and sustainability of our data centers.
- Stay abreast of industry news and trends products services competitors relevant information about legacy existing and emerging technologies and the latest productline developments.
- Evaluate new technologies.
- Develop innovative solutions to complex problems.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelors degree in mechanical or electrical engineering; masters degree preferred
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in project design preferably within the data center or telecommunications industry
- Proven track record of strategic leadership and successful project execution.
- Proficient at reading building plans.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and Bluebeam Revu.
- Working knowledge of construction techniques.
