The Fitter & Turner is responsible for the assembly fitting and maintenance of mechanical machinery and components. This handson technical role demands high precision problemsolving skills and a strong understanding of mechanical systems to ensure optimal performance in automated and heavyduty environments.
Key Responsibilities
Mechanical Assembly & Fitting
- Assemble and fit mechanical components according to technical drawings and tolerances.
- Conduct trial runs and alignments to verify precision and functionality of systems.
- Use appropriate hand tools machines and measuring equipment during fitting.
Maintenance & Repairs
- Perform scheduled maintenance and breakdown repairs on machinery and rotating equipment.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and implement corrective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Replace worn parts and carry out adjustments to machinery where necessary.
Workshop & Quality Support
- Collaborate with machine operators engineers and welders to ensure components function as required.
- Maintain accurate records of all work done and assist in continuous improvement processes.
- Ensure all activities adhere to quality assurance and safety standards.
Requirements
Qualifications & Experience
- Trade Certification as a Fitter & Turner (Red Seal preferred)
- Minimum 35 years experience in mechanical assembly machining or maintenance
- Proficient in the use of lathes milling machines grinders and other machine tools
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and tolerances
- Knowledge of pumps gearboxes and other industrial machinery components
