About The Role & Team
How many times have you been frustrated by a mobile app
Maybe you couldnt figure out how to do something basic so you desperately tapped around hoping to stumble on the right feature. Or worse you were bombarded by annoying popups screaming TAKE THE TOUR! and RATE US ON THE APP STORE!! when all you wanted was to complete a simple task.
These unhelpful experiences are trying to solve a real problem we use dozens of apps but rarely master any of them. But the current solutions are ineffective at best and rageinducing at worst.
Were building something way better and we need your help.
Were a newlyformed team inside Amplitude (we joined via acquisition of Command AI). Now were channeling that same scrappy entrepreneurial energy to build an allnew product: Mobile Guides & Surveys. Its something we had planned to build at Command AI for a while but never got around to. Now its time.
This product makes any mobile app easier to use and more personalized by embedding experiences that actually help users. And we have a notsosecret weapon Amplitudes massive scale and analytics platform.
As a Senior Mobile Engineer on the team youll own projects that impact millions of users and help us build something genuinely novel in the mobile space.
Ok but what does your role actually mean As a Senior Mobile Engineer you will:
- Own the technical design and implementation of our Mobile Guides & Surveys product for crossplatform frameworks (iOS Android React Native Flutter etc.).
- Work collaboratively with PMs and designers to create an incredible developer experiencethe same kind of experience Amplitude obsesses about
- Ship new features quickly and iteratively while keeping one eye on the longterm maintainability of our code.
- Help define mobile engineering standards across multiple platforms from build pipelines to release cycles.
- Advocate for best practices in mobile performance testing and instrumentationafter all our customers rely on us to deliver realtime data.
- Work in a small tightknit team where your input matters and bureaucracy is nonexistent
- Prioritize end user experiences; we build tools that help end users rather than polluting their sessions

What will help you succeed:
- San Francisco or Vancouver preferred
- Broad mobile expertise across ecosystems; its okay if you have an area of depth in a specific area (e.g. iOS) but youll be involved in mobile across all platforms so crossplatform interest is required
- Strong technical background
- Web frontend / JS experience is helpful! Youll be working with the web team that has some shared typescript libraries
- 2 years of fulltime experience
- SDK library experience is a bonus
- Startup experience or the equivalent in fastpaced small teams. We think this kind of experience is really critical to being successful on our team:
- Ability to move mountains across the company to get your work shipped
- Great problem solving skills (breaking a problem down into smaller parts considering solutions to each zooming out and assessing the whole plan and its weak points)
- Working smart by prioritizing effectively pushing to descope things that arent important planning ahead and identifying complexity early on vs. later
- Appetite for ownership; both product and technical
- Excellent communication skills; ability to communicate technical information at the right level of detail based on your audience. Youll be working as part of our broader platform team
