Position Summary
The Network Specialist is responsible for designing implementing managing and maintaining an organizations computer networks. They ensure the networks performance security and reliability addressing any issues that arise to support seamless communication and data transfer.
Duties
Manage the networking activities related to homogenizing the organizations network with the University Health Network (UHN) to ensure seamless integration and compatibility.
- Lead and implement all networking initiatives for the onsite Hospital IT Infrastructure team including areas such as LAN WLAN WAN and Security applications.
- Manage daytoday changes to West Parks Campus Network including both enduser and vendor/partner change requests
- Guide West Parks information technology help desk team as a level 23 (escalation) resource.
- Monitor and optimize network performance to meet organizational needs.
- Assist in developing monitoring and maintaining technical and service specifications to ensure the accuracy of the documentation on an ongoing basis.
- Develop and maintain all related documentation for the current and new data center network appliances and security infrastructure including but not limited to detailed network map and topology switch port connection details IP addresses logical network map firewall design and ports mapping.
- Install and configure firmware and updates on network appliances including routers switches firewalls etc.
Qualifications :
- Undergraduate degree ideally with specialization in engineering computer networking information systems management computer science or related discipline.
- Equivalent combinations of education and experience will be considered.
- One or more computer networking certification ideally Cisco (CCNA / CCNP / CNSP / BCCPA) specific.
- Active professional IT certifications (e.g. ITIL v3 or v4 MCSA SSCP)
- 10 or more years of campus network and/or security experience in the design development configuring implementation and troubleshooting of Cisco network and security ecosystem in a mediumsized organization
- Extensive experience with Cisco network routers and switches implementation and maintenance including experience with network design planning security traffic control and general best practices
- Proven handson experience of network redundancy implementations within a Campus or Datacenter setting
- Experience with the following Cisco technologies is highly recommended:
- Cisco Nexus 9K & 7K Data Center Switches (Vlan Virtual PortChannel VPC Virtual Routing and Forwarding VRF creation)
- Cisco Catalyst Campus LAN Access Switches 9400 & 9300 (Vlan Virtual Routing and Forwarding VRF VTP domain AAA creating)
- Cisco ASR routers (Routing Protocols EIGRP OSPF BGP etc.)
- Cisco Wireless Controllers and Wireless Access Points
- Cisco Firepower (FTD and FMC VPN implementation site to site and Anyconnect)
- Cisco Prime infrastructure Cisco Mobility Service Engine Cisco Identity Services Engine (ISE) Policy Groups and Results creation Cisco Web and Email Security
- Cisco Unified Communication System solution and voice gateways
- Experience with network monitoring tools (Solarwinds Wireshark etc.) managing Active Directory DHCP and DNS for both Microsoft and Unix/Linux Systems
- Experience in managing Microsoft 365 Microsoft Azure Proxy Server (Microsoft Bluecoat Barracuda Exinda WSA etc.) and Mail Filter (ESA Barracuda etc.)
