The professional in this position will be responsible for:
Manages the Revenue Accounting subsystem maintaining established statewide fiscal standards evaluating and analyzing year end financial data for accuracy in conjunction with supporting data provided by the Office of Research and Analysis (ORA) and the Office of State Planning and Budgeting (OSPB).
Obtains and evaluates Gentax data using judgment and resourcefulness to apply statewide fiscal standards and calculate fiscal accruals that post financial data to all state agencies and institutions of higher education.
Prepares yearend journal entries in CORE for inventory items including Accounts Receivable Accounts Payable and Cash on Hand.
Prepares the applicable fiscal year end financial reporting exhibits for all Tax DMV and SBG division revenue collected and accrued during the fiscal year.
Reconciles all financial activity included in exhibits to source data and the State financial system (CORE).
Throughout the fiscal year end process determines tactical planning in conjunction with the Tax Controller to achieve the established fiscal tracking and control objectives.
Support the day to day functions of the positions and assist with the approval of transactions in the State financial system (CORE).
Provides technical guidance and direction to positions with the application of financial activity in CORE.

Experience Only:
Eight (8) years of relevant experience in accounting or auditing.
OR
Education and Experience:
A combination of related education (coursework requires 24 semester hours
completed in accounting or auditing) and/or relevant experience in accounting or auditing equal to eight (8) years
OR
Current valid licensure as a CPA by the Colorado Board of Accountancy will count for
six (6) years of the requirement
Preferred Qualifications
Experience overseeing a large software system including recommending and testing changes to the software
Experience managing the accounting functions of a large business group
CPA License
Experience with the states financial system (CORE)

Employees are in a position of public trust in the performance of their job duties and must operate in a manner that maintains the highest standards of honesty integrity and public confidence.
As a condition of employment with the CDOR all personnel must file all necessary Colorado Individual Income Tax (CIIT) returns and pay tax obligations therefore all employees must undergo a preemployment evaluation of their tax records/accounts to ensure compliance with this policy. Final candidates must also complete a successful background investigation and reference check prior to appointment. Certain positions based on duties may require scheduled background investigations.
