Main Purpose of Job

Supervision and management of a Child Welfare Team involves planning managing directing training monitoring and evaluating the activities of professional and paraprofessional staff that provide Child Protective Services Mental Health Services and other Child Welfare Services. Significant efforts are directed toward assuring the safety of children preserving and strengthening families remedying the conditions that may contribute to abuse and neglect of children developing judicious and expedient service plans for children who are served by the agency overseeing concurrent plans when needed and helping to assess appropriate family members.

POSITION DUTIES

  • Program administration administer Safe Place programs by planning organizing and managing the operations maintaining compliance with the expectations of the Washington County Department of Social Services and the grantors.
  • Coordinate and provide site supervision and monitor professionals an services at Safe Place.
  • Supervision Provide direct supervision to Child Protective Services Staff Therapeutic Staff and the Office Secretary.
  • Facility Management Manage the Safe Place facility and work environment involving oversight of such things as security heat air conditioning cleaning and equipment.
  • Community Events Outreach and Public Relations Ensure that Safe Place participates in community events related to child abuse prevention and awareness. Monitor and assist with facilitation training and outreach opportunities hosted by Safe Place.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education:A Masters degree in social work from an accredited collegeor university approved by the Council on Social WorkEducation.

Experience:Seven years of professional experience in a social work capacity in a public or private agency or institution five years must have been in an administrative supervisory or consultative capacity.

may substitute U.S. Armed Forces militaryservice experience at a rank of Corporal/Petty Officer or higher as a commissioned officer in Social Workclassifications or Social Work specialty codes in the SocialScience Psychology and Welfare field of work on a yearforyear basis for the required experience and education.

SELECTIVE QUALIFICATIONS

Candidate must possess a masters degree in Social Work with a LCSWC or LMSW with Independent Practice

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Preference will be given to applicantswho possess the following preferred qualification(s).Include clear and specific information on your application regardingyour qualifications.
  • Six months experience using Microsoft Word Excel PowerPoint CJAMS and Google.
  • One year experience in a supervisory role or program administration role.
  • One year experience in the child welfare field.
  • One year experience collaborating with community partners and stakeholders.

LICENSES REGISTRATIONS AND CERTIFICATIONS

1. Candidates forpositions in this classification must be licensed by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners.

2. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties are required to possess a motor vehicle operators license valid in the State of Maryland.
