Provides support for surgical procedures by serving as general assistant to nurses and physicians during surgical procedures and prepares operating rooms with necessary equipment instruments and supplies
Education and Training
- Completion of an approved surgical assistant program and certification as a Certified Surgical Assistant
Experience
- One (1) year Surgical Assistant experience in a hospital Operating Room
Other Skills Competencies and Qualifications
- Ability to operate sterilizers adjust operating tables and accessory devices handles instruments position patients for maximum exposure of operative site and perform subcutaneous and ski closure techniques.
- Knowledge of anatomy and purpose of procedure.
- Ability to effectively interact with populations of patients/customers with an understanding of their needs for selfrespect and dignity.
- Ability to work well within a team environment by accepting and offering honest and constructive feedback; by supporting team goals and encouraging other team members; and by collaborating with patient care team members to consolidate work solve problems create new methods and /or reduce costs.
- Ability to understand and carry out the vision of patient care at Western Reserve Hospital to create a patient care environment which is focused on the needs and expectations of the patient our customer.

- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods of time frequent pushing pulling and lifting of patients cleaning equipment and materials.
- Ability to coordinate communication information for personnel physicians and patients.
- Attain BLSC certification during initial training period and maintain certification thereafter.
- Assumes accountability for demonstrating behaviors consistent with the customer service policy.
- Performs other related duties of a similar nature as required.
