Job Description

POSITION TITLE:Early Childhood Teacher Associate

RECRUITMENT/RECOMMENDATION:

Consults with: Director Assistant Director Pastor Superintendent of Schools Finance Council Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Childcare Resource and Referral (CCRR)

Position Summary: Teacher Associates are responsible for providing early childhood education to children up to approximately five years of age. Teacher Associates have childcare skills and know safety and first aid techniques. A teacher associate enjoys working in an environment where quickly adapting to changing conditions and rapidly assessing the needs of young students are important and necessary skills.

Essential Duties: Essential job duties for this position include the following items. Other duties must be performed as assigned or required.

  • Supports and promotes the philosophy of Catholic education as articulated by the Diocesan Board of Education and the administration of the parish.
  • Prepares lessons with the guidance of the Lead Teacher that meets educational requirements in an ageappropriate manner and teach in a manner that meets the needs for the ages and abilities of all children.
  • Operating knowledge of and experience with personal computers and peripherals
  • Manages a busy classroom environment and provide the structure and discipline required for successful learning for everyone in the classroom.
  • Helps children meet educational milestones through personalized instruction and other supplementary assistance. Collaborates with the lead teachers instructors and staff members to create an optimal learning and care environment.
  • Maintains the safety and sanitation of the children and the childcare environment.
  • Completes documentation as required by the center the Diocese and the Department of Human Services.
  • Supports and uses proper procedures as required by the food and nutrition program of the center.
  • Provides helpful feedback to parents and guardians on a regular or asneeded basis.
  • Work with diverse populations of children and adults from a wide variety of cultural linguistic and religious backgrounds.
  • Prepares activity/lesson plans for students according to the age developmental maturity and needs of the children being taught.
  • Addresses basic interpersonal skills such as sharing taking turns and asking permission in the classroom.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • Experience in a childcare setting;
  • Ability to develop lesson plans that meet educational standards;
  • Familiarity with classroom management skills

Preferred requirements:

  • CDA or higher education or 5 years in an early childhood setting
  • First Aid/CPR Certification

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully the Teacher Associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the minimum knowledge skills and ability required.

Education/Experience:

  • The Teacher Associate should be prepared to lead a childcare center that is focused on the development of young children in an environment centered around the teachings of Jesus Christ as articulated by the Roman Catholic church.
  • CDA or higher education or 5 years in an early childhood setting
  • Demonstrates the ability to develop an environment conducive to the learning and developmental needs of children.

Language Skills:

  • Demonstrates the ability to write read and speak for specific audiences as required by the center.
  • Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers or members of the parish and business community.
  • Ability to effectively present information to parents.

Mathematical Skills:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts interest proportions and percentages. Ability to apply concepts of basic

  • Ability to define problems collect data establish facts and draw valid
