Job Summary:
The Managing Director Human Resources (HR) is responsible for providing strategic as well as operational HR consultation and support to work units for: the planning development implementation and administration of employment compensation benefits performance management and organizational capability recruitment and employee relations systems throughout Casey. The Managing Director HR interprets recommends and enforces organizational HR policy. This is a working management position who is responsible for outcomes products and systems within HR as well as oversight of staff.
Essential Responsibilities:
Human Resources Strategist Partner and Consultant
- Acts as both strategic and operational internal consultant mediator and advisor to all levels of employees on human resources issues.
- Responsible for advising all levels of employees and management on employment issues. This position acts as a resource to assure fair treatment. This position works with team members to develop and retain talent at Casey through best practices in employment.
- Responsible for resolution and recording of significant personnel issues such as involuntary terminations layoffs and complaints; provides confidential professional counseling in sensitive matters; ensures appropriate notification and interaction with senior management as needed. Identifies the need to consult with outside Legal counsel as issues arise keeping in mind good stewardship of resources.
- Oversees functions of employment relations recruitment total rewards and other employment matters to create outcomes that support and further organizational objectives. Measures results and provides continuous quality improvement to all systems. Is a member of and leader in Employee Benefits Committee (ERISA oversight of retirement plans).
- Integrates work with training development and all areas of HR/OD to ensure aligned and supported systems. Works to develop staff in areas of strength and gaps to respond effectively to organizational needs. Brings in OD expertise regularly in resolving conflicts proactively building teams and as needed throughout the organization. Works to ensure HROD is seamless in providing service to the organization.
Employment Law Expert:
- Oversees application of HR guidelines and systems through HR staff and consultation. Interprets recommends and enforces HR policies and procedures.
- Responsible for updated compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEO) Department of Labor IRS and state and federal regulation with regard to employment especially in policies and procedures.
Employee Relations Expert:
- Oversees traditional functions of HR including employee relations compliance records compensation and benefits and all employmentrelated areas.
- Serves as the point of contact for escalated conflict. Assesses the situation and responds via mediation investigation or other method as deemed appropriate. Interacts directly with employees and managers in employment matters interpretation of policy and assessment of issues. Conduct investigations into escalated claims of harassment discrimination or other serious allegations. Report on findings and recommendations to upper management and recommend solutions to enhance management effectiveness.
Team Manager and Leader:
- Responsible for operational and budget oversight of HR coordinating Council on Accreditation responses Quality Improvement efforts in HR and the maintenance of the Employee Handbook.
- Acts as a champion for the need for diversity in the workplace and oversees efforts to recruit and retain a highly skilled diverse workforce.
- Provides development opportunities for staff challenges and encourages professional growth in the department. Develops leadership in others and seeks to continuously grow in the profession and in Caseys mission.
Organizational Leader:
- Contributes as a strategic and operational business partner on the Operations Committee. Responsible for helping achieve the organizational objectives with colleagues and staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree along with 15 years of professional HR experience required; history of progressively increasing responsibility in supervision/management in Human Resources; experience in establishment and maintenance of HR Systems (e.g. performance management health and welfare benefits staffing analysis) preferred. Must have performed all aspects of HR Generalist work in a dynamic organization. SPHR certification preferred. Multistate HR experience preferred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of employment law regulatory compliance as related to HR. Successful management of HR programs in an organization of similar size and geographic diversity to Casey is preferred. Demonstrated success in recruitment required. Knowledge and experience in developing a diverse workforce through recruitment and retention efforts required.
- Demonstrated leadership in direct supervision as well as indirect supervision through coaching is highly desired; proven effective management of HR office with successful outcomes and solid organizational trust is highly desired; flexibility critical thinking and priority setting are key competencies in this position.
- Ability to perform effectively in high pressure and stressful work environment. Ability to manage stress and selfcare.
- This is a regular fulltime position that may require travel up to 30% of the time.
- Ability to work onsite fulltime to meet the collaborative responsibilities that are essential for position. Regular and reliable attendance is required.
- Physical requirements include the ability to lift and reach for light objects; ability to type and work at a computer for extended periods of time as a primary job function.
- Ability to protect the confidentiality of sensitive information by learning and following all relevant policies and protocols and using sound judgment in the handling and sharing of that information.
- Local travel as well as occasional out of town travel may be required. Driving on Casey business may require use of personal vehicle; adherence to vehicle safety guidelines and qualification for insurance is require.

This position is based at our Seattle WA Headquarters office.
The typical hiring range for this position in Seattle WA is $186660 to $219600. Employees in this role have the potential to increase their pay up to $252540 which is the top of the range based on ongoing demonstrated and sustained performance in the role. Starting pay for this role will vary based on multiple factors including an individuals knowledge skills and experience. Pay ranges may be modified in the future.
Casey Family Programs offers comprehensive benefits including medical dental and vision coverage accrual of 12 days of annual leave 12 days of sick leave10 paid holidays per year and each employee receives one personal holiday to use each calendar year. Employees that meet certain tenure qualifiers are eligible for up to eight weeks of parental leave for the birth or placement of a child for adoption or foster care. After the completion of 10 years of continuous fulltime regular employment employees in good standing are permitted for a threemonth sabbatical with pay.
