Summary
The Product Quality Engineer Level III is responsible for analyzing internal and external product quality and reliability and driving improvements. This role requires constant collaboration with multiple functional teams Engineering Operations and Quality within Spellman High Voltage as well as various suppliers and customers.
This role will evaluate and test products to ensure that products are produced that meet quality and performance standards as well as safety and regulatory requirements. Develops product quality standards and monitors production and product testing internal and external product reliability.
This opportunity is located in our Global Headquarters: Hauppauge NY
This role is onsite 5 days per week
What You Will Do
- Identify factory yield process or component issues and drive improvements.
- Data analysis
- Update/improve Control Plans on PFMEA
- Analyze all aspects of the product from sales to product development to NPI to supply chain to manufacturing to service to all other aspects of the product to determine if improvements are needed.
- Utilize the 8D corrective action process or other quality and analytical tools where applicable
- Provide timely and concise communication and escalation of issues to quality and engineering teams and to other relevant departments. This includes but is not limited to project plans action registers weekly activity reports monthly and quarterly updates and other updates as needed.
- Apply solid understanding of quality control and manufacturing concepts to be responsible for the development of specific Product Quality Plans (PQP) as appropriate for each product or product family.
- Perform strategic planning to determine longer range needs and process improvements.
- Detailed Project Plans using MS Project or other methodologies.
- High level with some detail strategic plan developed to support and exceed corporate goals and customer expectations for product quality & reliability manufacturing yields and other relevant metrics.
- Mine product data to identify issues and trends and initiate appropriate corrective actions drive the corrective actions to a systematic root cause solution.
- Collaborate with internal and external groups to ensure that proper definition of quality expectations and that appropriate assurance techniques are used for the product
- Review failures failure troubleshooting work hands on in failure analysis lab validating failure cause validating effectiveness of proposed solutions conducting accelerated stress testing.
- Drive Product Quality Improvement activities using core quality tools data analysis and hands on reliability assessments.
- Actively participate in the New Product Introduction process through the development & implementation of elements of APQP such as FMEA PPAP Control Plans Gauge R & R Failure Analysis Process Controls and Data Analysis.
- Lead the organization with respect to incorporating and maintaining progress on each product or product family.
- Lead cross functional potentially multisite Product Family Teams with engineering supply chain operations sales and/or other functional groups as appropriate.
- Drive corrective actions crossfunctionally with internal and external team members develop and implement groundbreaking quality inspection tools.
- Actively participate in Supplier and Customer business reviews. Prepare quality data ahead of time assist in development of standard quality presentation and prepare this material for review with customers and/or suppliers present the material and take away action items as necessary.
- Involved in every stage of a product lifecycle from product development to post production
- Ensure that product meets the desired quality standards and customer expectations.
- Drive Product Quality in collaboration with Product Development team. Responsible for the data output in the project development stage including the APQP quality data of the project identify potential product quality risks by driving PFMEA and Control Plans.
- Supplier quality management: formulate supplier quality management standards be responsible for the analysis and judgment of supplier quality problems make treatment decisions propose corrective and preventive measures to ensure that production is carried out in a controlled and stable state assist suppliers to solve quality problems and guide suppliers to improve quality levels.
What You Will Need:
- Familiar with ISO 9001 ISO 13485 FDA MDR or other similar quality management system
- Proficient in using electronics industry quality tools such as APQP FMEA 8D statistical data mining tools such as Python Tableau Power BI etc. and failure analysis accelerated stress testing tools such as HALT HASS Material Analysis tools
- 7 years of proven experience in electronics product quality area or process technical area strong ability on driving corrective actions and failure analysis efforts is required.
- Knowledge of quality and reliability concepts supplier management and general manufacturing operations. An area of expertise such as a specific process material or industry is key to show depth of knowledge base.
- Project management experience and a solid understanding of problem solving tools including design of experiments root cause analysis and statistical process control principles.
- Minimum 4 year degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering Physics Data Analysis Biology Materials Chemistry or similar.
- This role is based in Hauppauge NY and requires 10% to 20% travel some international.
Our good faith estimate for the salary for this position is $105000$126000. Exact compensation may vary based on skills experience and other factors.
